I would say that this book falls under the category of being a romantic fiction novel. This isn't a true story and it also is about a two people falling in and out of love and making big decisions so that's why I would say it is a romantic fiction novel.
“Everyone wanted to believe that endless love was possible. She’d believed in it once, too, back when she was eighteen.” pg 55.
“By the time summer ended, he knew he was in love, and when the air turned crisp and autumn leaves drifted to the ground in ribbons of red and yellow, he was certain that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, as crazy as that sounds.” pg 15.
“If you love someone, you’re supposed to let them go, right?” …show more content…

How did the main character feel during the book?
Give evidences of this.
Dawson felt madly in love with Amanda but he often felt guilty for killing Dr. David Bonner in the car accident.
“Because you aren’t just someone I loved back then. You were my best friend, my best self, and I can’t imagine giving that up again.” –Dawson Cole
“You might not understand, but I gave you the best of me, and after you left, nothing was ever the same.” –Dawson Cole
“Life was messy. Always had been and always would be and that was just the way it was, so why bother complaining? You either did something about it or you didn’t, and then you lived with the choice you made.” –Dawson Cole

Write another short story using the same characters. (This will be a page long.)
After bumping into Amanda , Dawson cannot get her off his mind and wants to be alone, so he leaves his friends after the match. Ashley, his ex-girlfriend, tracks him down. Ashley makes it clear that the two of them, along with Scott and Cassie, could have a good time at her house, because her parents are not home. Dawson pretends to be tired and declines the offer. When Dawson and his friends stop for something to eat, they run into Marcus and his goons. Marcus taunts Scott, Dawson’s friend, using the words "bottlerocket" to get to him. They start to fight, but Amanda breaks up the ruckus because of a young boy who was knocked over during the commotion. After the altercation, Marcus' gang splits to Saunders Point as Amanda’s father approaches. Amanda has no desire to leave with her father and follows the gang. Officer Pete, who knows Steve, confirms that Marcus is bad news and suggests that he keeps his daughter away from those hooligans. Dawson, hearing that news, decided to tell Steve and Officer Pete that Amanda went to Saunders Point. Dawson's friends don't understand why he offers that information, and Dawson isn't quite so sure himself.
Write a poem about this book.
First Love a Haiku
Two innocent hearts inseparably entwined
Love will never fade
The climax of any book or story is the exciting or interesting part. Tell what you think is the climax of the book and why.
The climax of the story is after Amanda decides to leave town to go back to her family. Dawson also leaves town but decides to go back because he forgot the letter Tuck wrote to him. While he came back, he again sees the figure that has been following him around. Dawson follows it into a bar, and finds the doctor's son(he killed the doctor) in a fight with one of Dawson's cousins, Crazy Ted. Dawson realizes that the figure is the doctor and he brought him there to save his son. Dawson saves the doctor's son just in time and tries to leave the bar. Crazy Ted, feeling angered because Dawson is getting away once again, shoots Dawson in his head and kills him. I chose this to be the climax because one of the most important character dies.
What did you think was the most interesting part of the book? Why?
The interesting part of the book was the ending because in the book Amanda’s son does not find out whose heart he has because his did not want to tell him. She knew it was Dawson heart but decided to keep it a secret from him.
"What was your initial reaction to the book? Did it hook you immediately, or take some time to get into?" Why?
I fell in love with the beginning because their love story was so good it made me want to keeping reading the book. I was hooked immediately, I read the whole book in two days!
"What was your favorite quote/passage?" Why?
My favorite quote was “The truth is, the world isn't easy for any of us. It never has been and it never will be.” because I can really relate to this quote. I felt like it was directed towards me because of my current situation. "How did the characters change throughout the story? How did your opinion of them change?" (List at least two characters.)
Dawson Cole- He was a good person and towards the end of the book he began to feel guilty about the accident and letting Amanda go. He let the investigation to the Bonners, leaves flowers on the grave of Dr. David Bonner and gives monthly allowance to his family anonymously. He even tried to get Amanda’s love back.
Amanda Collier- In the beginning she was kind and outgoing but as she aged she became more quiet after losing her daughter and being emotionally abused by her husband.
"How did you feel about the ending? What did you like, what did you not like, and what do you wish had been different?"
I was not expecting the ending to end like that, I was shocked because in the book Amanda’s son does not find out whose heart he has because his did not want to tell him. She knew it was Dawson heart but decided to keep it a secret from him. Something I wish I would of change is that Dawson survived and Amanda’s son got someone else's heart.
