Diary Entry for 1984
5 October 2010
Dear Julia,

I am so very delighted that I can communicate with you. I would like to stress that this is a great honor for me. In the novel 1984 I strongly believe you play one of the outstanding roles. The reason for writing this letter to you is that I have read the novel and analyzed every character. More by the leading roles Winston , O’Brian I am most impressed by you. Foolish of me I should have introduced myself earlier. My name is Bazardari Narmandakh, I am 18 years, and in my last year of school. To get back to the point.

In the Society of Big Brother, I would say you were the only one who I thought was ready to have fun and accepted reality. Your principles of life seemed to exactly suit me. I also believe in living for the day to accept reality just the way it is rather than trying to change it. Find a way to live happily within your own means unlike Winston. You being the outer party member and in the sex league. Wearing the sashine every day convinced many perceive you as the good girl. However women always have their secrets. Looking at how my other classmates perceive you it seemed to me that how others perceive you is similar to what many also think of me. You were the person who spiced the storyline up with your love for Winston. You were the person who allowed me to wonder what was going to happen so I am proud to say are a page turner for me.

Speaking of page turner your carefree optimism is a similarity we share, it is the reason why I chose you. The storyline of the novel was dark and gloomy until you came to the picture. Example would be when you and Winston travelled to the countryside for your first date. Such place did not excited until you invited Winston to join you. This place was the start of the lighter storyline. This was not a novel to read lying on the beach. However your optimistic view of not getting caught by the Inner Party for your affair with Winston added lightness to the plot. Your sense of

I chose the quote that Winston stated, “Big Brother is Watching You” on page 2 of Chapter 1. I like this quote because it briefly explains the antagonist in the story and tells the plot of the story. Big Brother is the antagonist in the story. He is the villain because to Winston he is pictured as a bad or evil character. 1984 is about a guy named Winston who hates the society he lives in. Big Brother is the person that controls what happens to people who commit crimes like the main character Winston does.…

The date was June 14, 2034. I was flying to London, England with my private jet. It was a beautiful day. The clouds were puffy and white, the sun was shining, and there was no wind. Then all of a sudden, there was a lot of turbulence. The plane was going crazy going left, then right, then back to the left. My pilot told me to not panic and that everything is going to be fine, but I was having cold feet. The turbulence became so wild, the pilot announced that the plane will have to land on the nearest ground.…

Diary Entries: Harold Henry Abbott Enlistment: 10th March 1915 I can not believe I have actually done it. Reason being is I am quite comfortable back home with my job of being a Brushmaker.…

When we first meet Winston, our narrator, and protagonist, he languishingly fulfills mundane duties at his job. Subsequently, 1984 is able to illuminate the gormless manner in which many of us lead our lives. Lives in which conformity equates to self-degradation and personal sacrifice. Winston leads a life of servitude in solitude. His wife never loved him and left him before the events of 1984. 1984 expands upon the notion that unity amongst the oppressed is detrimental in sustaining a system of oppression. In Winston's indoctrinating society…

Imagine living in a society in which the government monitors your every move. That sets the scene of George Orwell's 1984. Winston Smith, the protagonist of this novel, lives in such a society, and his job is to modify history by altering old newspaper records to coincide with the new reality decided by the Party. Therefore, it has complete and utter control of its subjects: a totalitarian government. To reinforce its authority, the Party has slogans that hold its ideals and major beliefs. One of these slogans are "Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present controls the past." This, as a whole, means that the past has an effect on the future, for previous events that occurred ensure the mindset of the people in the future, and whether or not they want to repeat history. Also, the Party controls the people in the present, and can therefore control the past with the authority to go back and modify history on paper to control what is being taught to the masses.…

An archetype is a reoccurring pattern of images, symbols, or a situation. The hero archetype is one who tries to fulfill a necessary task and tries to restore justice to a society. The hero will commonly go through the hero’s journey in search for truth and information on restoring justice to a society. All archetypal heroes share certain characteristics. In 1984, by George Orwell, Winston follows the hero’s cycle because there is nothing told of his childhood, he looses favor with the Party, and Winston is not buried after all.…

It was seven am and I was agonizing over a calculus test. This was not just an ordinary test, this test determined my final grade for the entire class. I texted Winston, my best friend since the 5th grade as usual to come over for breakfast and to study a little more for the test. As we ate breakfast Winston kept glancing at his phone. When I asked him what he was up to , he quickly mumbled to me with a startled tone “Umm… just texting my mom .” At the moment I had no concern to ask Winston why he was acting so strange but I knew in the back of my mind there was something going on with Winston.…
