Discrimination In The United States
Although the United States have made great strides toward cultural diversity and the equality of all people, discrimination has still managed to destroy lives in modern society. This country was founded by immigrants, yet the majority of society still looks upon immigration with hatred. The attitude of the general public was heavily influenced in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks, causing innocent citizens to be labeled as terrorists. More than a decade later, Presidential candidate Donald Trump fueled the fire when he brought the issue of immigration back into the forefront of the media focus. The most controversial part of Trump’s statement was his negative description of the immigrants who are coming across the borders, characterizing

America, well known for being the land of hope and freedom, inspires copious levels of immigration fueled by the concept of the American Dream; yet current society contradicts the Land of Liberty’s ideal of diversity. Subsequently, this social unrest has led to increased protests, rise in hate-related crimes and formation of the Black Lives Matter movement. It is quite transparent the current divide taking place in the US, and Trump vilifying Muslims only exacerbates these wounds. The presidency brings along the power to influence many citizens around the globe, as citizens and countries look to the US president to help guide the future of their nation. Trump instigating stern immigration policies and anti-Islamic rhetoric further gives people ammunition to alienate Muslims, many of whom are fellow Americans. According to the FBI, there has been a 67% surge in Muslim hate crimes since Trump’s campaign. Trump’s inauguration speech was saturated with nationalistic overtone, but he needs to understand that immigration and diversity is what the US was built upon, and that it is imperative to feeding creativity and galvanizing a diverse set of…

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. ... They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.” When Donald Trump began his presidential campaign with this racist statement about Mexican immigrants, it was evident that his campaign would be focused on demonizing and stereotyping those who were not white, male and Christian. Despite this, Donald Trump was still elected President, primarily due to the support of white Americans in areas like western Wisconsin, northern Michigan, and western Pennsylvania. Based on his attitude toward racial relations throughout his campaign, it is clear that racial relations will be negatively impacted as a result of his presidency. Particularly, Donald Trump’s support of discriminatory and unconstitutional stop and frisk policies as well as his nomination of Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions, who is explicitly racist, as US Attorney General provide evidence that Donald Trump’s presidency will almost certainly have a negative impact on racial relations. However, people can work to mitigate this impact by calling their representatives in Congress and asking to oppose racist policies and nominations and by standing up to instances of racism that they encounter in their own lives…

Due to recent political actions, there are more stereotypes and different types of discrimination in the U.S. President Donald Trump has called an executive order that bans people from Iran, Sudan, Somalia, Libya, Syria, and Yemen traveling to the United States. This travel ban has been placed because it is said that most terrorists have come from there. Since these countries in the Middle East are mostly made up of Muslims, a stereotype that has influenced the mind of others is that all Muslims are terrorists. However, this overall idea is not true. Document E is the United States’s former president, Barack Obama, saying his opinion about illegal immigrants. “To begin with, our borders have been porous for decades. Obviously, the problem is greater along our Southern border, but it’s not restricted to that part of the country... We need to provide farms a legal way to hire the workers they rely on, and a path for those workers to earn legal status. And should stop punishing young people for the actions of their parents by denying them the chance to stay here and earn an education and contribute their talents to build the country where they’ve grown up.” Obama’s opinion on the topic of illegal immigrants is that the U.S. help them and their children become legal so the United States can help them and they can help us. I believe every person was born the same. You should not discriminate against African Americans because they have a darker skin color. I don't believe having us to do your work is fair. I don't think you would want us to push you around and tell you what to do while we sit around. We all needed to be treated equal. I hate that people can throw us around, tell us what to do, and get away with it. Slave owners do not provide us with proper education. They beat us with whips and other things. They give us little to no money. I don't think slave owners need to be nicer, or give us more money. I think slavery should stop.…

In the passage Thomas Paine states that American government is fair-minded. However, there are an overwhelmingly large amount of examples that prove that corruption does indeed exist in America’s political system. One relatively recent example of corruption was the bribery involved Rand Paul’s presidential campaign in 2012. In this event Jesse Benton, Paul’s political director campaign manager admitted to paying senators in exchange for their endorsement towards their campaign (Ballhaus). This example of corruption disproves Paine’s claim that the government in the United Stated is unbiased and fair. In his book, Paine also claimed that, “There the poor are not oppressed, the rich are not privileged…. Their taxes are few, because their government…

He dislikes the fact that different backgrounds are flourishing in this country and will stop at nothing until we're all gone. He criticizes all of us together with one’s mistake and label us, “rapists and criminals” even though he has no idea why most of us choose to come because some are here as refugees escaping from violent places to seek safety, while the majority of us like you and I, mom, are hoping to pursue the American Dream by working hard day and night until it becomes a reality.…

Around 66 years ago, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was scripted for the sole purpose of ensuring the welfare of all human beings are safe guarded regardless of the individual’s background. Discrimination is stemmed from a subtle form of prejudice and stereotype. The modern day society is quite oblivious to the seriousness of this matter. Studies show that police officers are more likely to halt and search blacks than whites. In New York City, 80% of the stops made were blacks and 85% of those people were frisked, compared to a measly 8% of white people that were halted (“The Reality of Racial Profiling”). Article 2 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights instills the zero-tolerance against discrimination. Discrimination is the prejudicial treatment of a person, racial group or minorities restricting members on the grounds of race, sex or age based on categories disregarding their individual attributes. This predicament does not only happen in under-developed but also developed countries among all ages in various places. This mostly happens because society is always thriving to embrace sameness instead of something different. Discrimination comes in various forms such as racial discrimination, gender discrimination as well as sexual orientation discrimination.…
