Body paragraph 4 Pros and cons of diversity
Pros to diversity
People from various backgrounds and cultures don’t think or work alike, thus it encourages more outside-the-box thinking that leads to new inventions and discoveries. It provides stimuli for thought as other cultures present new experiences, new fashions, different cuisine and linguistic accents which is all the good part. Everything we see around us has been influenced in some way by different cultures – our clothes, daily routine, music, food, art, sport and poetry are all as they are because they have been mixed with our knowledge of different cultural features. The benefits of living in a diverse society are that you get to meet new people and learn interesting things about them. People get a chance to understand others. This could help people become less racist and also you can get a chance to learn variety of new languages. You can get a chance to widen your knowledge about the outside world by learning interesting facts from people from different cultures. It makes life more interesting and less repetitive.
Cons to diversity
People often feel confused, threatened or even annoyed by individuals with views and backgrounds very different from their own. It creates a bad political atmosphere that hinders advancements. Decision-making can be delayed due to diverging views and opinions, thus mutual decisions and actions take time. Moreover, different cultural identities and values, or simply said when people lack things in common, could negatively affect the overall team spirit that leads to conflict, misunderstandings and racism. Differences in languages and physical viewpoints confuse situations and misunderstandings

As to every positive thing there are negatives to it as well, there is a hindrance to accepting diversity, for example Stereotypes, a set of beliefs about a group that is applied universally to all members of that group, such as “all Asians are good at math’s”. Another example would be discrimination, not allowing a person to work in your company because of race, color, and sexual preference. For example there would be discrimination in a company if there were a position, which would require a lot of travel so the company would just interview men based on the assumption that women are occupied with family…

You are exposed to all of that which is so great. You get to know people who are different then you, learn about them, learn about their country. Of course, all of this is not for everyone. Not everyone appreciates diversity. Diversity can have a great influence that will exposure you to other people. You don't always end up working, going to school with the people from your country. But being understanding and appreciating others will help you be a better and more understanding individual. Like I stated before I love living in New York because it's so diverse. Everywhere you go you have different cuisines what is better than that. You learn how to practice that cuisine so later in life you can teach that to your kids. Like I mentioned before diversity can also be bad for some aspects of communication. Many people have different type of gestures, behavior that other might take offensive. For example a thump up is appropriate for America people to use but in other countries it doesn’t mean the same. Also pointing on things are really rude in many European Countries. Then again being exposed to it all helps you better understand and eventually benefit you in the…
