This status gave them power over woman and minorities in all areas of life. Woman were forced into a caste system that kept them in the home. expanded affirmative action, too include gender based discrimation.
This executive power gave them the power to enter the workplace as equals. This papers focus will be about diversity in the workplace. Other areas of focus will be why this is important to the nation and companies as a whole. We will discover who truly benefits from this practice. In the beginning paragraphs some historic information was given about woman entering the workplace.
These laws laid the foundation for today’s most successful woman and minority leaders. Diversity is a workplace filled with people of all nations and backgrounds. A workplace that is a diverse is a benefit for all parities involved. These people all have new ideas that can improve the mission of the organization that they work for.
Diversity gives companies access to a larger talent pool of people.
In the work world one group usually does not have all of the answers. So diversity gives the company the tools to find the best and brightest candidates for the position. Diversity can have a different meaning depending on the organization. The company should figure out their own definition of diversity.
Lieberman (2016) said for most organizations it involves creating an inclusive organization where the differences of all people are respected. This can happen through diversity training on the organizational level. In many cases this works out as long as the whole company is on board. There are other benefits to a diverse workplace. If a company is diverse they have access workplace, they have access to diverse market. An example is a company has a large Chinese workforce and they can use this to gain more market share.
When a company has a diverse population they can speak different languages that open up doors. This in turn opens new market share for the company. Which leads to higher profits for the whole company and higher wages for the employees. A diverse workforce has a treasure of new ideas, which can benefit the whole company. When these employees come from different backgrounds, they have different business
background.
Some of these ideas can increase profits for the company in the long run. Companies must remember that ideas keep companies in business for years. If there is a lack of fresh talent which equals ideas, eventually there will be no company. If a company has diverse workforce they can work different markets at the same time. Each group will have ideas that make lot of money.
It’s also valuable for organizations to have a diverse group in leadership. Many will have a diverse line staff but, a non-diverse leadership group. This does not represent a true diverse workplace system, all areas should be diverse. Feigenbaum (2016) said talent comes in all packages people of all colors, ages, shapes and size have important skills. Many of these people have skills that can make a company millions.
One of the questions are who benefits from diversity the answer is everyone. From the CEO to the customer everyone does, it might not seem that way from another person’s view. The CEO gets fresh ideas from a diverse workforce, the workers get great pay and benefits. They also get job security and this is something no one gets anymore. So everyone benefits from a diverse workforce
If given the task to explain diversity, there would be classes for employees to take. Everyone would be at the class and they would be different ethnic groups at the class. Each person at the table would define diversity in their opinion. After this each person would share their background to the others at the table. This would kind of break the ice between all of the employees.
After that each worker would explain what they learned with everyone in the room. These would be more than one class, it would be spread over five classes. In the last class they would bring in food that they eat in their country. At the end the company would let them know what we expect as far as diversity is concerned. We would demand that everyone is treated with respect at work.
Hopefully these classes will show that people of all different cultures can work toward a company mission. This is how diversity would be communicated in an organization by myself. Another issue should be addressed the negative feelings about diversity by some employees. For these people this will be a tough sell but, if they cannot manage than they will have to find a new place to work.
Another idea would be to increase their pay if, they agree to learn new language. Let’s say a person wants to learn Spanish, this would make them more marketable for the company. They would get a five percent increase in their pay. This would be sort of an incentive to further embrace diversity. Again this will also help them develop professionally and get a different outlook on the world.
This paper was about diversity it’s begin with some background about laws that helped usher in diversity. It might have seemed off track but, these are the laws that got woman and minorities in the workforce. These laws have gotten companies that were all male dominated into fully diversified companies. Since this has happened profits and innovation have put life into companies across the nation.
