I. If you want to Stay Alive, please don’t drink and drive. II. It is well known that young drivers are more likely than older ones to involve in drunk and drive accidents. III. Today, I will inform you about three different points highlighted on an article from the New York Times ‘Young Drivers and Alcohol: A deadly mix.’ A. Regardless of alcohol consumption, drivers younger than 26 cause more auto fatalities in the US. B. A proposal to lower the legal blood-alcohol limit can result in lowering the risk of fatal accidents. C. Every drink raises a driver’s crash risk level.

I. First, regardless of alcohol consumption, drivers younger than 26 cause more auto fatalities in the US. A. Young adults have the highest prevalence of alcohol consumption than any other age group. 1. Many youngsters drink due to social status or peer pressure, but the consequences are always fatal. 2. According to the New York Times, 21 percent of young drivers involved in a fatal accident have some alcohol in their system. 3. Many people drink and drive without thinking about the consequences. II. Second, a proposal to lower the legal blood-alcohol limit can result in lowering the risk of fatal accidents. A. Lowering the legal limit can make people more thoughtful about having a second, third or fourth drink. 1. Since the more alcohol someone consumed, the greater the impairment. 2. According to the Center for Disease Control, all states in the United States have adopted 0.08% (80 mg/dL) as the legal limit for operating a motor vehicle for drivers aged 21 years or older. 3. The National Transportation Safety Board is requesting law-makers to reduce the legal blood-alcohol limit from 0.08 to 0.05percent. III. Every drink raises a driver’s crash risk level. A.
