Do People Get What They Deserve?
Do people get what they deserve in this world? I do not believe that they do. In some cases they do, but mostly people don't get what they deserve. I have 3 reasons for believing this.

Firstly, innocent children all around the world suffer in ways that are terrible. For example, thousands of children in Africa don't have enough food or water to live, schools or medicine. They are born, and then suffer and sometimes die. Other children live in war zones, like in Palestine or Israel, India, Pakistan or Afganistan, Iraq, as well as other countries in Africa. Other children are born into violent families. Their father may be an alcoholic, the parents may take drugs, live as criminals or just be very poor. These children may be hit often, and maybe they don't know that it is not normal to be hit. They are only children, and have not done anything bad, or wrong, but they suffer.

Secondly, people are born with different abilities, and society rewards some abilities but not others. We can't control which of those 'natural abilities' we are born with. Some high school students can read, understand and remember things more easily than others. Such students may get very good test results even if they don't study much. People with a great ability to sing, play sport, act or write interesting stories can become famous and get a lot of money even without studying at school very much. Other people, who are good at helping old or sick people, or bringing up children or with no single great ability will never receive a lot of things in life. Children of poor parents have less chances to study at good schools or try different activities such as sport or art. Other people are just beautiful, handsome or have voices that other people enjoy listening to. The ability you are born with is just luck, not something you deserve.

Finally, kind, generous people don't live longer or have healthier lives than unkind, mean people. Kind people can get sick or die young in the same way as unkind

Many children suffer child abuse everyday at the hands of adults and it is often their own parents who are the ones to do this. They are beaten, kicked, thrown into walls, or burned with cigarettes. They have their heads held under the water of toilet bowls, are scalded by hot water or they are forced to stand in freezing or scalding showers until they pass out. A child could be stuffed into running washing machines or sexually molested and beaten so bad that they are unable to move. Some suffer from neglect in the forms of starvation and lack of medical attention, and still go unnoticed by outsiders such as child protective services or perhaps even their pediatricians. It is not unheard of that children die every day in the…

Everyone has their talents, whether it be drawing, writing, or playing a sport. No one was born with these abilities. To get to where they are now, they would have had to work. Like Doodle from The Scarlet Ibis, Waverly from Rules of the Game, or even Isaiah Bird. They all worked to be the best at what they do. Therefore abilities are not predetermined and that people do have control over them.…

There is a well-known saying that says “nice guys finish last”. This saying is somewhat equivalent to a modern version of Machiavelli's statement. What Machiavelli is attempting to say is that there are so many people who do not do good, that when there is one person that tries to do good that person will most likely not succeed. This is due to everybody else will maybe try to take advantage of that person. When taking about generosity and miserliness, Machiavelli says that generosity “will not be recognized and you will not avoid the reproach of its opposite.” (Par. 9). This means that people will take you for granted when you are generous. When you stop giving, people will notice and they will disapprove of you. It is the sad reality that people face today. Whenever someone is nice all the time and always there for anyone who needs help, although that person might be thanked for it, they are not actually taken into consideration. However, if for a particular reason that person is not able to lend their help, people might receive that the wrong way and they will remember that displeasing time more than the other times when they received help.…

Those who are more advantaged in this way have so many opportunities readily available. Educational opportunity does not come for everyone as my teachers in high school once said. Our education may get affected by different factors since the moment we are born. The type of education that you might receive may be poor or may be the highest level of education. Working class students get a poor education already being taught to obey and listen to orders while the elite class works in developing intellectual power. It all depends on your parent’s jobs, and economic standings. Depending on your social standing you can get a good or a poor education. Many people think that we all have the same opportunity as upper class does. Authors Jean Anyon, Mitchell Landsberg, and Gregory Mantsios have wrote in their…

According to The Christian Science Monitor, the innocence of children has to be loved and defended. Each of us can contribute to preserving the innocence of children by seeing them as God created them and refusing to believe that their innocence can be lost (Defending the Innocence of Children). I also know that God loves every individual on the planet, and we should strive…

Children were especially vulnerable in the era of the Holocaust. The Nazis advocated killing children of “unwanted” or “dangerous” groups in accordance with their ideological views, either as part of the “racial struggle” or as a measure of preventative security. The Germans and their collaborators killed children both for these ideological reasons and in retaliation for real or alleged partisan attacks.…

I agree with you that deservingness of punishment is different than deservingness of help. I feel like everyone deserves the right to be helped if they are in need. Helping others is a charitable act and it would be wrong to deny someone help just because they are poor. Like you, I believe that healthcare should be available to anyone because we are all created equal and deserve equal opportunities. The deservingness of punishment definitely has a lot of variables that go into play when determining the type of punishment that should be given. Different crimes deserve different punishment. For example, the severity and reasoning for committing a crime play a major role in determining the punishment. I feel that anyone who commits a crime deserves…
