Introduction I decided to do a report on a book entitled Do What You Are: Discover the Perfect Career for you through the Secrets of Personality Type by Paul D. Tieger and Barbara Barron. This book is basically a guide to help everyday people find out who they are through their personality and taking that information and finding a career field that works for them and their personality. The authors suggested that you use the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, but the results must be interpreted by someone who is trained to use this type of system. However, the authors present a two step process that has helped people find their type. The first step is called the four dimensions of personality type. This means how we engage in the world, where we focus our energy, they type of information we notice, and how w make decisions, and whether we like to live organized or spontaneous. The book broke all this information into dimensions listed as such: extraversion/introversion, sensing/intuition, thinking/feeling, and judging/perceiving. Extraverts are people who choose the outer world and Introverts are people who choose the inner world. The book makes it a point to emphasize that these terms and definitions given of these personality types are not intended to be used as they are in everyday life. For example, when the word introvert is used, most people automatically think of someone that is extremely quiet.
