These things have evolved from the Salt March of Gandhi, Rosa Parks on the bus, The March on Washington and the protests of woman’s rights in the 1970’s, to protests involving burning buildings, vandalizing others people’s property, heavily blocking highways and traffic, beating people, shamelessly marching practically naked on the street and shouting vulgar and hateful words at people, for reasons they can’t seem to explain. These more reckless displays of protesting have been praised as courageous and peaceful, when a lot of them strip the internal doctrine of peaceful resistance. People see what’s considered protesting and suddenly it’s become a nasty idea. Peaceful resistance has become relative and can apply to potentially anything that involves people that just say that they’re peacefully resisting. People aren’t caring anymore. They see this as a potential boy-cry-wolf scenario. There’s a lot of violent protesting in the name of the unknown where it’s being called peaceful and purposeful but when something does need to be resisted and people attempt to peacefully stand against it, they’ll be turned away from because of everything that’s currently representing the …show more content…
It’s important that its left in the hands of the peacefully passionate and that the word and idea isn’t thrown around like a ball. If the people want to ensure their second amendment right is protected, we need to keep the movement peaceful and ensure it has a common goal that positively affects everyone. Freedom to peaceably assemble is one of the most important ideals in our history and it is absolutely essential that it’s kept that
