Does vegetarianism have a positive or negative effect on health among teenagers?
To produce one pound of beef takes 16 pounds of grains. Growing body parts which are not used for meal and production of energy by cow make 15 pounds expendage. That same pound of beef also requires on average 2,500 gallons (10,570L) of water (Lappe 1999 quoted in Kaza 2005, 390). By contrast, a pound of wheat requires only 60 gallons (254L) of water (Fiddes 1991, 215 quoted in Fox 2000, 165). Furthermore, every year 322 million liters or by another measurement 85 million gallons of waste are produced by farm animals, and most portion by cattle. While, at least 40 kg (88lbs) and 15 kg (33lbs) manure is produced to take a kilogram of esculent beef and pork accordingly (Fox 2000, 165). Also, there are many other consequences of using too much animal products. By growing the population demand for meat and dairy products are increasing. Hence, the risks caused by animals are also increasing. Beside the environmental damage, there are also health benefits of consuming fewer animal products and it protects animal rights and prevents animal cruelty. Also, people who do not eat meat or other animal products tend to not consume or easily can abandon from alcohol, drinks with caffeine and from modified foods (Phillips 2005, 136). Although meat is the national meal of Kazakh people and many think that a meal without meat is not substantial, this essay will show that a vegetarian diet might be useful for people's health and may lead to several positive environmental changes.
Several studies state that a vegetarian diet is one of common type of diet and it is becoming popular (Mahato 2011, 74; Key et al. 2006). There are hundreds of million vegetarians all over the world as a vegetarian diet is a popular choice for many individuals and families. They all have slightly different diets. Nonetheless, to be a vegetarian one has to follow certain type of vegetarian diet. Also, to call yourself vegetarian the minimum requirement is to not eat meat, therefore, one may include

Meat demand is rapidly rising around the world; this can be contributed to the economic growth in third world countries. As the third world countries standard of living and buying power increases, so does the demand for the expensive protein, meat. As meat becomes less and less a sign of status and power, the worldwide demand for meat will increase, and this will lead to a need to increase the production of meat in the countries which produce the product . As societies evolve, we must be sure that the animals welfare does not get left behind. As Cathy Liss (2007) says,"we need to promote and insist on a complete overhaul in the way farm animals are kept that brings them back to being animals not meat- or milk-producing machines or objects." Today one can use the booming veal industry to examine and help prevent problems that may arise in the not-so- distant future.…

A problem that I have solved, on a singular level, is my impact on the earth. Caring about the earth and its occupants is something I deeply identify with. And as I have gotten older I have been trying harder to create the smallest carbon foot print possible. Towards the end of eighth grade my science teacher explained the current and future ecological status of the world, this being the first I ever received this information. Though the facts I observed left a feeling of uneasiness, I didn't compose any changes. Although, a year later the animal lover within finally came out, I went vegetarian. A narrow step on a path to a healthier planet. I remember in this time I felt terribly guilty and wrong for contributing to such terrible things: death, disease, torture, and devastation.…

I’m interested in this recommendation because it’s an argumentative recommendation which raises a controversy and my deeply thinking about whether it can be done or not. It seems to be an irresistible trend for people who care about environment and recycle; they try to cut down the times of eating meat from animals and save water at the same time. In addition, the obesity rates also goes up year by year and that’s why many nutritionist and doctors advise people eating more natural food rather than animals’ meat. From the point of view of nutrition, it’s a good question to be discussed too. And since modern people pay more attention to a healthy diet, the trend of eating less meat is also becoming an upward tendency. Some people indeed think they can gain enough from vegetables and fruits. I think for this recommendation, people should consider both pros and cons in order to get a comprehensive…

A vegetarian diet is a diet that consists of non-meat products and sometimes the omission of other animal by-products. Many health benefits come from the foods that are reduced or omitted as well as from the foods that are consumed. Overall, they tend to have a lower intake of saturated fat and cholesterol and the higher intakes of complex carbohydrates, dietary fiber, certain minerals, and phytochemicals. Cholesterol is only found in animal foods, so vegetarian diets are completely cholesterol-free.…
