However, the full-time staff lacks diversity, the housing contract lacks inclusive language, and the office space lacks accessibility. The lack of diversity amongst the full-time employees is problematic because it perpetuates the idea that marginalized individuals are ill-suited for or incapable of doing this job. To ensure the success of a nonviolent campaign, one must consider the sources of power of the opponent and the need for unity among the protesters. For example, in her Ted Talk, “The Secret to Effective Nonviolent Protest,” Jamila Raqib employs a graphic of a block tower, representing ISIS, with each block representing a necessary component of ISIS’s power, such as skilled labor. As these blocks are removed one by one, the structure of the tower crumbles, and ultimately collapses. File their taxes jointly 2.Take unpaid leave to care for their spouse 3.Receive spousal benefits under Social Security 4. Along with DOMA being against same-sex rights, the Respect for Marriage Act (RMA) is for respecting the benefits of all married couples including same-sex married couples such as making those particular couples eligible for federal benefits and security those being family and medical leave, or Social Security spousal leave and survivor benefits although it cannot support grants at the state level. One case that relates to our industry, is when a transgender man K.S, who works at a resort spa as a massage therapist who is in the middle of transitioning from male to female, was requested by his employer to massage a client who requested for male massage therapist. K.S, has reluctantly asked his employer for a new name tag (male to female). But, his employer denied K.S with a new name tag unless K.S obtained a court order name change or gender change on his driver’s license. Under K.S’ rights under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which made it illegal to discriminate based on gender. According to Transgender Law Center Staff Attorney Matt Wood, “Cases like this one are becoming increasingly common and show the significance of TLC’s recent victory in the Macy v. Holder EEOC decision. K.S. lives in a state where there is no explicit state law prohibiting gender identity discrimination in employment. Because of Macy, K.S. was able to show his employer that federal law protects transgender workers and prohibits the company from treating him differently than other men in his workplace. Throughout the paper, there will be research to identify the problem and support the factors that contribute to the identified problem. This paper looks at the issue of nursing home disparities among the LGBT community at a micro, mezzo, and macro level by identifying how the problem is engulfed in all levels of practice and how the problem can be solved by addressing all levels of practice.
