Doodle Was Just The Craziest Brother
“Doodle was just the craziest brother a boy ever had.” Doodle was born with a “disappointment.” He was born with a huge head but with a little body. Because of it, he is not capable to walk, run or even sit up. His family didn't believe he was going to survive long but, Doodle was holding strong. He suffered a ton in training. At the end in a storm, Doodle didn't make it, it was too hard for the boy. The brother found him under the tree not in good condition. Brother pushed him too hard and he's the reason that doodle died.
The Brother wanted to teach his developing brother how to walk so he wouldn't feel embarrassed that his brother can't walk yet. Having a brother that is not capable as their siblings is pretty difficult. Some things
are not easy for them like other kids their age. it Might be weird having someone around that doesn't know how to walk or speak but feeling embarrassed about it is not a proper way to deal with that kind of problems. The brother wanted to help doodle is great but, doing it for your emotion purposes should not be the reason why.“ When doodle was 5 years old, I was embarrassed at having a brother of that age who couldn’t walk, so I set off to teach him.” (Hurst pg2) .If Doodle was compared to someone intelligent, differences would be pointed out easily. The differences would not just be who’s smarter, it would be from how they thought of something. Doodle might of not been simple to teach how to walk or to swim but, Doodle has always been creative. Doodle had an amazing imagination that could make the world seem like a better place. The brother was not embarrassed about his creative imagination but somehow was embarrassed about how long it took Doodle to learn how to walk. Doodle was not trying to learn how to walk at that moment, he was enjoying his beautiful imagination while it lasts.
He did teach him how to walk but he thought if making him walk was possible, then teaching him to do other things is possible as well. The brother was going all out on doodle trying to teach him how to do so much actions by the end of the year. The brother would make him swim till his body was numb and face was purple. If he gave doodle some more slack, Doodle could of learned it more frequently than he had learned it. The brother gave him a certain date he had to learn everything by, making it more stressful as it is.“ Once I had succeeded in teaching doodle to walk, I began to believe in my own infallibility, and I prepared a terrific development program for him, unknown to mama and daddy of course.I would teach him to run, to swim, to climb trees and to fight. He,too now believed in my infallibility, so we set the deadline for these accomplishments less than a year away.” (Hurst pg4). Doodle has not been used to all the things his brother is throwing out to him. Brother is trying to help but throwing unfamiliar things to someone can cause huge amount of confusion. At the end of the story, we could tell that Doodle was exhausted and couldn't bear with it no longer.
The reason Doodle died was from his brother. His brother was stressing him out to learn so much because he thought he was doing great teaching Doodle how to do these activities. Doodle got a deadline to learn all the actions. The reason Brother is doing this is because he had guilt after how he treated Doodle so, he wants to make it up. Doodle learned so much in the little time from his brother which was a miracle but soon after a bit, he was too tired to keep on going. Being born differently should never make someone give up.
