Google takes into consideration all of the visual elements in each design that goes into the creation of Google as a whole. The designers keep a harmony between icons. If you look at the icons, they all maintain a similar visual connection. The same shade of the four colors in the Google logo are repeated within the Google icons. Everything is simplistic, and makes up straight forward geometric forms. All of the icons face forward. Some contain a degree of shadow. The shadows follow the curvature of the form. Google’s first animated doodle came out in 2010. There is a team of artists and engineers that take the Google Logo and create specific animations that relate to a certain holiday or event happening on a particular date. The illustrations are sometimes interactive, and the viewer can control what goes on with a key on their keyboard. The short animations are meant to draw a response from the viewer. They are specifically designed to be engaging, and make you feel like you are a part of the animation. The first animated Google Doodle was created for Sir Isaac Newton’s Birthday, and displayed an apple falling from a tree. This doodle showed a single movement. A yearly way that they connect with their young consumers is through their Doodle 4 Google contest. They invite students from kindergarten to twelve grade to create their own original doodle pertaining to a prompt. Then they bring the public into the voting by asking them to vote on the finalists from different age categories. Google has changed their logo several times throughout history. Their current logo reflects the advancement in technology compared to where it started in 1997. Google’s current logo represents movement forward. The logo itself is an animation. The letters morph into four dots. While doing a voice search these dots will react to the sound as you are speaking. Google’s logo has become interactive and visually interesting.
