In order to study successfully, the environment can have a big impact. It is generally not ideal to study in a dorm room. A better bet is to locate a quiet place where you can study in solitude. You should opt for the library. If you have to study in the dorm, get yourself some headphones.…
At first glance, many students are immediately drawn to the social environment of a university. Various universities including NCCU, UNCG, NC A&T and WSSU all provide socially adequate environents where students are given access to differentiating programs, parties, clubs, dances and events. Another common connotation referenced when accessing a university is the utilization of dorm rooms. This can serve as either a pro or a con, depending on a student's personal preference. I still cannot decide between living on campus or home. I want the experience of living on campus to have fun and have access to the library quicker, but I have never been away from home. Living on campus is another stressful aspect of my life as a college student. Even though there is a sense of freedom that comes with having your own place to live, it still is a large responsibility to manage. Paying rent while also taking maintaining a stable living environment takes quite a bit of effort and, fortunately, I have survived at least one semester. I’m glad I’ve taken on this task, however, as it’s yet another example of the ways that I have continued to prepare myself for larger responsibilities down the…
The dorms that we live in now are far from the best. We live in a 10 x 10 box; well that's how it seems anyway. Our dorms have 2 beds, 2 desks, 2 closets, and a sink. We got lucky with the sink, but that doesn't make living in our hall any better than anywhere else. In the little rooms we also have to fit our TV, refrigerator and a microwave. With everything in place there is just enough room to walk around. One thing that causes problems in storage, storage in the dorms is very limited. We have an adjustable thermostat so we can control our own room temperature, but it often breaks and air conditioning goes out; that's no fun. We don't have bathrooms and not having a bathroom in our rooms is a pain in the butt. Why would anyone want to walk down the hallway at 2am just to go to the bathroom? The bathrooms in the dorms we have now are very unsanitary and disgusting too. I think bathrooms should be in all the rooms, just for convenience. All of the doors in our rooms have key locks and they do not lock behind you. Some people forget to lock the door and that often leads to serious situations…
College is the one place where students can escape from home and enjoy a little freedom. That’s one of the many reasons most students consider on campus living. On campus living provides students a chance to become familiar with the facilities on campus and meet many new friends. Living on-campus will allow you to meet more people and establish more friendships than if you live off-campus. Living in a dorm means that there will always be someone around to hang out with. You will also usually be aware of any campus activities and how to be involved in them. For example, you are doing homework on your desk, and your neighbor stop by telling you there is a cook out just started near the library. So you can either keep working or throw up your pen and go have a hotdog. That is not easy if you live off-campus.…
Living in an apartment or living in a house? When you are trying to save money and only have so much to spend each month, a lot of people would choose to rent an apartment. When renting an apartment, you choose to live in a smaller space and agree to all of the terms and conditions of a lease. Following these lease agreements may sometimes involve paying an additional amount to house a pet or to park in a specific spot. Renters must abide by all rules enforced by the apartment complex. Living in an apartment is not just following rules and paying rent, it can also provide many great things. Many people that are renting apartments are unable to afford essential appliances such as a washer and dryer or oven. Usually an apartment can either provide you with these necessary appliances or they will give you the option to rent them. With these issues taken care of, all you have to worry about is paying the rent, electricity, and the food you are eating. Apartments are ideal for an individual who is in need of a place to stay temporarily. While living in an apartment home, you will have to deal with the noises being made by your neighbors who live next-door as you are trying to sleep. Little annoyances like this may be a huge inconvenience to you if you have work the next day or need to study for a test in the morning. Some people crave an environment with more privacy or a bigger yard for their pets or children to run around in. When I was living in an apartment with my family, the apartment was too crowded for such a big family like mine. My parents could only bear to stay in the apartment for a…
