Most of the media in Canada has a very interesting way of being produced. The Canadian government has made many policies and guidelines to attempt and create a very distinct Canadian culture. Two of the governments appointed bodies which regulate Canadian media are the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission. Both of these groups help shape what is able to be considered Canadian or co-produced Canadian media. For instance if you were to try and create a Canadian film you would have to meet minimum requirements for your film to be considered Canadian.
While first focusing on more of the Canadian pop culture, what first comes to mind is Aubrey drake Graham also known as Drake. He can be arguably seen as one of the best representations of the meaning of pop culture, seeing that he has worked in both the musical and theatrical industries in Canada. Born in Toronto, Ontario on October 24th 1986 Drake comes from a very musical family. His mother Denis Graham was a drummer who was worked alongside of Jerry Lee Lewis. He Is also the nephew of musicians Larry Graham and Teenie Hodges. Drake first hit mainstream media with his first job as a character In Canada’s hit television show Degrassi: The Next Generation. Comparable to America’s Fresh Prince of BelAir.
