Dramatic Monologue
“Once upon a time…” Sitting in my chair, looking at my vanity. I sat there waiting for my third sister to retrieve me for the ball that the Duke was having. I looked at the liar in the mirror. She wasn’t bad looking, long brown hair twisted by the maids, feathers adorned her she again, this year she was an owl, one of those pretty barn owls that live in my bird collection. There misery at least was fast. The Duke and his family had this ball every …show more content…
Mother wasn’t that old, she would though be turning 35 this year. Her family started her off young. She was married at 15. She conceived me on her wedding night. She didn’t seem too bothered by the fact she was still young when she had me. She seemed to love my father, but- I only know that by the tone she uses to describe him. When it comes to talking about all her husbands she has a fond voice. She had her moments they were rare but mother still seemed to care…
“Look at the princess. She strides down the stairs with grace and beauty. You were my perfect doll while you were younger. Now you are the sour princess. I was 15 when I had you. Mavis it’s your 20th birthday this year, you have yet to find a man. I was thinking Derik perhaps...” Care my ass.
Mother looked at me with disgust. “You are a beautiful China doll that has no sex appeal. It makes me wonder if you will ever get a man… huh,” she smiled wickedly. “I have an idea- you can be the lady down the lane a few kilometers, with a house full of cats.” She gave a side sneer at the last remark.
“Mother, are we ready to leave?” Oh dear mother, cats are fabulous. I just rolled my eyes at

In Praise Song for My Mother, Grace Nichols describes her mother as being like “water to me” this tells us that she was essential to her and wouldn’t be able to live without her. Nichols also describes her as being “deep and bold” this suggests that her mother would go to all depths for her and that she was extremely strong. We can see that in Harmonium Armitage describes his father as having “yellowed fingernails” which could infer that the father is very old.…

“Miss Bowman will you point to your mother who unfairly extorted you”, this time she wasn’t so nice about it. As I pointed in the direction of my mother my face began to droop and my mind began to remember all things that my mother did to me. It’s been a week since i’ve been locked in this room, no windows, no cracks or crevices for sunshine to come through. With no food only water to keep me alive I said to myself, “I’ve got to get out of here before I die of deprivation.”…

CRASH. SCREEECH-BANG! Many protesting and angry yells went up into the pale NYC morning sky, caused by what looked like a small, red, and motorized wagon. It looked like this because that was exactly what it was. This “Motor-wagon” was piloted by a young-ish, tall-ish, and mostly bald man named Evan Victor Ite-Laught.…

My father trotted up to the dart game, like he was a big shot. I requested if I could play at least once. He said “sure thing.” As I walked up to the stand with the dart already on the table, I thought I was ready to throw it at the rubbery balloon. I closed my dark brown eyes and squinted very tight at the only balloon I wanted.…

Hello, I wanted to send you an email about something that was concerning to me after the game today. Kate came off the field very upset and unfortunately I had two other players with me that I was transporting home so I didn’t get much of a chance to discuss this with her until tonight. She wouldn’t tell me what was wrong right away, but one of the other players told me she was upset because her coach said there were three players that didn’t hustle and just stood there during the game today. Now I have taught for many years and also coached and take everything an 8 year old tells me with a grain of salt.…
