Only fools became starfighter pilots, and my mother was one of them. It is dumb to put yourself at so much risk, because you may end up as a flaming fireball through space. Like my mother. You would never know if the Sinats would attack, or ambush, or raid. My point is, piloting a starfighter is very, very dangerous. And of course, my mother happened to be one of them; a flying, dangerous maniac. By my fathers definition, she was extra stupid, but I always thought that flying a starfighter had made her extra brave and heroic. Even though everyone in our family knew this would happen one day, it was still a shock that I was there to experience it all. My mother worked for the Governmental Space Defence system, or GSD for short. …show more content…
Levitation rings, I thought. Levitation rings could let ships hover in mid air, kind of like a helicopter. The levitation rings cost a fortune, there was no way that our family would be able to afford one, even if we tripled how much money we all earned in a lifetime. But somehow the GSD was still able to afford it. But I still stood in awe, this was my moms ship? It was like nothing I had ever seen, it was so unique, so special, so much like my mother. “Now do you know what I mean, my little hero?” I continued to stare in astonishment, this was better than any of the other planes, or the hangers. This was the most special moment of my life. But little did I know, this amazing day would soon end, because just as I started to soak in all of the greatness, the alarms went off. The sound was enough to give someone a night terror, it sounded as if it were a nuclear warning signal. But my mother knew better. “Stay calm, my little Lit. I’m sure this will all end soon.” Said my mom. But it didn’t. It would never end, this sound would never let me forget about it. “Ok honey, lets head back to our ho—.” An explosion hit the ground, cutting off my mom’s voice. It hadn’t hit us, but it was still dangerous, around 100 feet away. …show more content…
No, not really, but it is. I mean, I do know Skift. Skift is probably the only person in Omega who actually understood what it was like for me. We met each other in kindergarten. Those were the days of the day. I could tease or pick on all of the other kids, and I wouldn’t get in trouble. Even though me and Skift are best buddies, we were like opposites. On every assignment or test (ew, tests) we had, he would never get below an A-, where as for me, I never got a grade above F, but I don't care, if someone wants to grow up to be a class A starfighter pilot, or trainee, they wouldn’t have to know anything unless it had to do with flying. Even though Skift never liked getting in trouble (which I don't know why), we had amazing experiences together. Like the time we broke into the Principal's house, and took all the money we could, which happened to be one dollar, or the time we hijacked a police hover car. Those days were awesome! But things have changed since then, we still stay together, but he isn’t as fun as he used to be. At least he still wants to be a starfighter pilot like me. We’ve spent the last three years studying, of course I wasn’t the one doing anything, but I still managed to learn stuff like: How many G-Watts are in a type two D dive? Easy, 7.9. At this point, I figured there was no way I could flunk the Starfighter Pilots Training Manual Test, or the SPTM. The SPTM is a test where anyone in Omega could try to take it, and maybe
