In the article “Drowsy Driving” it explains that drivers ages 15-24 and 75-79 had the highest percentages of drowsy driving crashes. It also states that “Male drivers were 1.9 times more likely to be in drowsy driver crashes.” Being a 17 year old male, that fact terrifies me. I was also intrigued when I found out that June through August was the time of year that most drowsy crashes occurred. I would think that it would be during the winter, when everything is dark and days are shorter, not when the days are long and it is hot.
There are many causes of Teenage crashes, but the ones that I would have thought were the most common, weren't, and that teens are responsible for a large amount of motor vehicle injury costs. I was also surprised on how many distracted driver crashes occur in Utah over a year.
