The contaminated product wasn’t only sold in Stockton, CA, it was also sold in AL, WA, UT, TX in a 7oz bag. The 14oz recalled product was Best Buy date 6/17/17. The 7 oz bag Best Buy dates 3/22/17 and 5/17/17. No other cheese biscuit mix were affected. Any product that is recalled is reported to the CDC. The public health laboratories are the surveillance of foodborne infections in the U.S that inspect the food.
What caused the outbreak of the recalled product was because of General Mills.
General Mills sold his flour to Marie Callender Cheese Biscuit Mix which was sold to the public and was recalled. If item is recalled notify a health department right away and return recalled item. General Mills has a bit of products recalled,he expanded recall dates because of all the flour he sent out. Varieties of Gold Medal Flour, Gold Medal Wondra Flour, and Signature Kitchens Flour were recalled items that had E. Coli. The recalled flours were sold nationwide.
Customers should not use any of the recalled products and should take them out. If contaminated product was put in a container throw product out. Consumers should thoroughly wash the containers before using again. Never eat raw dough because it can make you very sick especially if flour is contaminated. Most people get infected with STEC, develop diarrhea and abdominal cramps for 3-4 days after swallowing germ.
