One reason Earth day is very important because it is a time when people actually realize how nasty and disgusting our Earth is. The article “Earth day “ by Atticot and Manning states, “It takes about 450 years to break down plastic beverage bottles in a landfill.” This shows that it takes a very long time for plastic to break down; we still add more and more to our landfills everyday making it harder for the plastic to break down. In the article “Earth day” by Atticot and Manning states, “About 8 million metric tons of plastic goes into the ocean per year.” This means that when you throw plastic water bottles and the little plastic rings that are found on coke cans into the oceans that is killing millions of animals. Turtles, dolphins, ducks and more get there heads stuck in the plastic rings. Some underwater animals even eat them and choke and die. Therefore, Earth day is indeed very special and we need it so we can prevent the death of millions of
