Wings of Fire: An Autobiography” is a didactic narration of the events associated with the life of the former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. It was written by Dr. Kalam and Arun Tiwari. This is a very interesting and enthusiastic book, includes the important memories of President APJ Abdul Kalam, India’s Missile Man.

The book recollects the beautiful and successful memories of the great man.It inspired the Indian youth to think big and dream high, efforts to achieve their goals. The background message that the contents of the book provide is that our dream should just not be limited to seeing them and being happy but our dreams should be such that they wake up while we are sleeping and put the fire to it so that we run after them to achieve it. Hence, reading “WINGS OF FIRE” is just like going to a pilgrimage and strengthening one’s spiritual soul and developing one’s mental ability.

The narration in this book is simple and direct and shows how a boy from a humble background from a remote corner of India could dream of aeronautics, rocketry and missiles and make it to the top. The book also reveals the humanist in Kalam and how he was able to motivate and enthuse many young and old scientists to develop advanced systems and controls. His philosophy for managing people which comes through in the book is indeed full of wisdom and essential reading for today’s managers and leaders.

This book is best suited for reading for the teenagers, to dream and to dare. It shows, how a person from the modest background ends up in being the First Citizen of a nation of one billion. It shows how a scientist, devoid of basic tools, helps in culmination of a program which other love to loathe and deride. It shows how a common man, like you and me, can achieve when he can dream.

The Civil War was the bloodiest war the United States has ever fought - killing over 620,000 Americans and causing more destruction than any other war. Long standing conflicts and disagreements made the violent war seem inevitable years before it happened, and led to it becoming a major turning point in US history. Americans have struggled with sectionalism since the colonial days, as seen in the issue of slavery and states rights, and the passing of documents and compromises such as the Articles of Confederation in an attempt to unify the colonies. During the period around the Civil War, the universal idea of manifest destiny reignited sectionalism between states because of arguments over whether to admit new lands in the West as slave or…

Different perspectives suggest the different approach in evaluating Gandhi’s role. One could argue that he was one of the greatest men in India’s history as “he gave shape and character to India's freedom struggle” moreover, he even “sacrificed his own life” for the sake of granting India its independence. Certainly, Gandhi could be argued to be the crucial role in the freedom struggle of India as he was the…

The term marketing mix was first used in the late 1940s by Neil H. Borden (NetMBA, 2007). The original marketing mix introduced by Borden consisted of product, planning, pricing, branding, distribution channels, personal selling, advertising, promotions, packaging, display, servicing, physical handling, and fact finding and analysis. Later E. Jerome McCarthy grouped the parts into the four P’s of marketing known as product, place, price and promotion (NetMBA, 2007). “A typical marketing mix includes some product, offered at a price, with some promotion to tell potential customers about the product, and a way to reach the customer’s place (Perreault & McCarthy, 2004, p.36). The parts of the marketing mix are considered to be the controllable factors of the marketing plan. The marketing mix satisfies the needs of the consumers in a target market as well as maximizes the performance of the organization. A detailed look into the four P’s of the marketing mix as well as practical application will give greater understanding to how the process works. Whole Foods Market will be used to further explain the four P’s of the marketing mix.…

The Ottoman Empire started in the thirteenth century in 1299. Lasting for more than 600 years, it is considered one of the most long-lasting empires ever in history. Before the Empire was officially established, the Turks were originally nomads, migrating about from place to place following a traditional route seeking for food and shelter. The Empire was then established, and the Ottoman Empire was named after Otman (Osman Ghazi). They hired men known as "mercenaries" to battle the Mongols which was led by Khan. Osman's empire expanded quickly and significantly throughout the world, because of the ghazis. The term ghazi means a brave warrior. These people are willing to give their full strength expanding the great empire. This has led to the empire conquer southeast Europe, western Asia, and north Africa, however the expansion came to a halt for a while. It is considered that in Islam, it is wrong to conquer Islamic lands and fight Muslims, so the Ottomans have decided to migrate to Christain lands. One of these Christian lands, also one of the greatest empires in history was the Byzantine. The Ottomans succesfully conquered it, and this was the start of a great Ottoman Empire.…

He positioned himself in an abandoned farmhouse and started sending information on German positions back to his force. Ally and German artillery fire became heavy as a result of Prince's work, until a shell hit the telephone wire connecting Prince to the force. Prince dressed up as a farmer, grabbed a hoe, and pretended to be weeding his crops while moving towards the break in the line. When he reached it, he knelt down as if tiring his shoe and connected the wires together. Prince got up, shook his fist at the German and Allies, and headed back to the farmhouse to continue his reports. Over the next 24 hours, four German batteries were destroyed thanks to him. HE was awarded the Military Medal. On September 1, Prince and a Private were sent behind German lines to scout their positions. On their way back to report their findings, they came across a squad of French partisans fighting with some Germans. They started sniping the Germans until they left, then went down to talk to the French commander. When the commander asked where Prince's company was, he pointed to the Private. The leader was surprised, and said he thought…
