When Nia finds about Craig's depression she shows a new interest for him. Nia also claims she deals with depression and she breaks up with her boyfriend after he finds out about it. Nia’s first stop is Argenon Hospital to visit Craig.
Craig receives a phone call from his best friend Aaron and it breaks away some of the relief Craig has gained while being in psychiatric care. His conversation includes: ““I didn’t have a good night, and i checked myself into the hospital.” “What’s that mean, ‘didn’t have a good night’?” The man in my stomach is back, tugging at me. I want to vomit through the phone.”” (Vizzini 255). The phone call with Aaron bring back some of the “tentacles” Craig had forgot about. He feels it is best to cut his friends from his life for awhile while he is trying to recover.
Connecting to feelings of relief, clarifying Nia’s motives and evaluating Craig’s friends while he recovers, all help to understand the novel more thoroughly. Craig is the same age as me and my peers, so I feel that made it easier to relate and imagine what it would be like to be in a situation like the one he was in. I would recommend this book because it keeps the reader interested and it is an interesting take on a very common mental
