Topic: Eating Disorders
General Purpose: To inform
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about eating disorders.
Central Idea: Today I would like to share with you about eating disorders: what they are, their effects, how you can treat them, and how to recognize if someone you know has an eating disorder.

INTRODUCTION

Attention-getter: Did you know that it is estimated that eight million Americans have an eating disorder and only one in ten people with eating disorders actually get help. Nearly half of all Americans personally know someone with an eating disorder, which means that half the people in the class room know someone that has an eating disorder.
