Ectodermal dysplasia is a group of closely related conditions of which more than 150 different syndromes have been identified. This condition affects the development or function of the teeth, hair, nails, and skin. Ectodermal dysplasia also known as ED are caused by altered genes. In some cases the TP63 gene may cause this disorder. This gene is important for the normal development of ectodermal structures, such as the skin, hair, teeth, and nails. grow inwards, the skin to be sensitive, and teeth to crumble. Many live with this challenges but come through with them and enjoy the opportunity given to live and achieve their dreams like becoming a model like Melanie Gaydos.
Situs inversus can be caused by different genetic factors or genes that may cause this condition among different people or families.
This condition causes the organs to be on its opposite sides. For example the heart is on the left and due to this condition it's going to be on the right. In isolated situs inversus there is a complete mirror image transposition of the chest and abdominal organs, and front-back symmetry is normal. Many affected people have no associated health issues when the condition is isolated. When situs inversus occurs and it's associated with other additional condition, signs and symptoms relating to these condition will be present like having heart problems. In isolated situs inversus, no treatment may be necessary unless it's associated with another condition. Randy Foye is an American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association who has this condition that hasn't affected his career as a basketball player and also didn't affected his lovely
children.
Polydactyly is a mutation caused in the sonic hedgehog gene also known as SHH(Sonic HedgeHog). Which causes the growth of extra fingers and toes. This mutation can be passed through generation. Polydactyly usually does not interfere with hand function, but for social reasons it can be treated operatively. The Da Silva family from Brazil have been born with six fingers on each hand which gives them an advantage as goalkeepers or musicians. Out of 26 members of the family 14 have one extra finger on each hand, meaning manicures cost a bit more than for the rest of the population and when it comes to sports they have quite an advantage. Proud of their additional digits, when there is a new baby due relatives study the scan pictures to check if it has six fingers or not. This condition has helped the Da Silva family to exceed their hobbies instead of interfering.
Each mutation has a unique role in the individual possessing it and they have learn to live with it. They feel normal with their physical traits given, that they see the other people as if they weren't the normal ones. This mutations have all been different pathways taken during the development of the embryo.
