Effective Strategies General Electric General Electric, to most of people known simply by (GE) is a multinational huge corporation incorporated in New York and head quartered in Fairfield, Connecticut. As of 2015 the company operates through Power and water, Oil and Gas, Energy management, Aviation, Healthcare, transportation, and Capital. 2011 was a great year for GE, they ranked in the fortune 500 as the 26th- largest firm in the country for gross revenue, as well as the 14th most profitable. GE is listed fourth largest in the world amongst the Forbes Global 2000. Other rankings the corporate giant has include No. 7 company leaders, No. 5 best global brand, No. 63 green company, No. 15 most admired company, and No. 19 most innovative company. GE won a Lifetime Achievement Award from United Fair Economy in 2002, for being the only corporation to exemplify the bad business habits popularized by Enron. The General Electric Company was originally founded in 1892 by Thomas Edison. GE was one of the original 12 companies listed on the newly formed Dow Jones Industrial Average. After 18 years, it is the only one of the original companies still listed on the Dow index, although it has not been on the index continuously. Jack Welch Jack Welch was born in Peabody Massachusetts with an Irish back round. In his early years, Jack found work in the summer time as a golf caddy, newspaper delivery boy, shoe salesman, and drill press operator. Jack was very active in sports, and attended Salem High school. After high school, Jack attended the University of Massachusetts, where he studied chemical engineering. Jack worked in chemical engineering at Sunoco and PPG industries during his college summers. During his sophomore year, he became a member of the Fraternity Phi Sigma Kappa.
