effectiveness of on-the-job training to 3rd year HRM students in restaurant phase
On-the-Job Training (OJT) is a significant part of educational necessity of a student. It is a one-on-one training within the trainee and the experienced trainer on a specific site location. On-the-Job Training (OJT) is also called direct instruction, because students are expected to follow rules and errands in a certain establishment.
According to Klink and Streumer (2002) indicates that OJT program were only partially successful in realizing training goals which also indicates that self-efficacy, prior experience with tasks, managerial support and workload were the most powerful predictors for training effectiveness. Klink and Streumer (2002) conclude that the evidence suggests that OJT is not entirely an effective training method although more research is needed in this area. It could lead into students’ failure to develop their own skills pertaining to hands-on skills, in addition. Training is not effective and efficient to the society based on their research. Training is fundamental in businesses and company stability, because performances of students reflects and projects the visions and missions of the said establishment. It is a basic function of some establishments to perform and teach their students to work on the real world, and sometimes the importance of this aspect was hardly overemphasized by the society. It is a form of education that improves practical skills and extends their knowledge.
Organizational infrastructure came into modernization and globalization that result into effective and efficient training. Training is a natural and it was considered as a change process of the student for attribute development (Jacobs, 2001). Cascade Training aims to develop student’s self-awareness to their specific field, self-disclosure for more company and self-development, objectives or missions of the trained employee, and other more characteristics.

After companies determine through their HR departments that their employees need training to strengthen or acquire certain knowledge, attitudes and skills inherent in the successful development of a particular job, the next step would be to determine what type of training is better suited to the needs of the company. In addition, they should determine where, when and under what conditions they should be conducted. However, more frequently managers and supervisors are the first hurdles that a company must overcome for healthy training implementation. Many managers and supervisors consider training as something that should be implemented within the organization because of superiors ' mandate, but in which they do not have any expectations about possible outcomes or achievements, or simply because they perceive it as a threat. From this explanation, can deduce that if training process is unnecessary, much more the evaluation process. If there is no added value in training, there will be not reason of evaluation. This research analyzes some important journal articles showing the results of the investigations carried out in certain colleges, whose objective was to determine the possible relationship between employee attitudes and levels of effectiveness of training. The research results suggest that training effectiveness can be determined by evaluating the formation and implementation of a system to consistently evaluate the results of the training and how that transfer of training is implemented in workplaces. Both the evaluation of training and how that training is transferred to the workplace are strategic because they allow determining the benefits that organization which covers the costs, gets from the training.…

It is a one-on-one training located at the job site, where someone who knows how to do a task shows another how to perform it. In antiquity, the kind of work that people did was mainly unskilled or semiskilled work that did not require specialized knowledge. Parents or other community members, who knew how to do a job necessary for survival, passed their knowledge on to the children through direct instruction.…

Our university must have good coordination for some companies that accept On-The-Job Training inside their company. The university should provide more budgets and time given to the OJT coordinator and should assign not only one OJT coordinator to have the best monitoring of the training of the students are taking especially to those students who chose to do their training in far places like Baguio City, Manila and others. For me, the company is a good training ground. Because this government company created a good service to their clients and gave training for the students like me. They treated me as their fellow worker. But unfortunately it is far from our university. For the company, they must have an IT Department or computer technicians to assist them about their problems regarding their computers. For the future OJT trainees, they must have a good company that would give them a good training ground and would enhance their knowledge and capabilities. They must look for a company or institution where they can apply their learned knowledge from the university and they must know the background and the functions of the company that they are going to. They must know their nature of job so that they will have an idea on what they are going to do when they will be starting their training. When they are in training, they must focus and concentrate in their assigned task. They must follow the rules and regulations of the company. Just always be on time. And in case of problems, be calm and do not panic. Listen to your supervisor and know your responsibilities. Don’t be shy to ask your supervisor or your superiors if there are something that you don’t understand. It is better to ask them than having any mistakes while doing your assigned task. Learn to accept the fact that you also commit mistakes. Learn to get along with your co-workers and to your superiors. Always remember your reason why you are in that company, to…
