Effects Of Police Brutality
Police brutality has been happening numerous amount of times in America. Police brutality caused the Civil Rights around 1960s causing Martin Luther King Jr to make a speech about equality and Police Brutality to all African-Americans. He gave all races freedom and hope by making his speech about equality of races. Now the reason why I bring this up, is because most police are more likely to kill an unarmed African-American than an unarmed American. The percentages go high for Africans and Latinos.
Police Brutality has also caused Black Lives Matter followed after the incident in Ferguson, Missouri on August 9th, 2013. "A young 18 year-old African Michael Brown, was fatally shot by white Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson "[1]. Now people
started making fun of BLM (Black Lives Matter) and they started making "All Lives Matter" and "White Lives Matter". Now BLM isn't just saying its only black lives matter, obviously all lives matter but they are making a statement that right now with all the racist police brutality Black Lives really matter right now. As in an example if you had a broken arm would you check all of your bones just to make sure they aren't broken or just the broken arm?
The Government needs to provide the police with body cameras and dashboard cameras at all times. And the proper equipment such as guns, tasers, pepper spray, and pagers. Now just because they have a gun doesn't mean that's the first weapon he has to use if someone initiates violence. When a victim initiates violence They the police should tell them to take it down a notch but if the person becomes more aggressive but is unarmed, I believe they should ask permission from a higher person if they can taser them or threaten them to get them to calm down. Not only will it help the Victim/Person but it will help with the police officer. It can help them by not getting a lawsuit, getting fired for their actions, and protect their reputation.
