I find it hard for myself to agree with the “many obstacles that the Muslim Brotherhood faces in their quest to change the rules and networks of the political game” as Mohammed Zahid says starting on page 26 in this reading. According to Zahid the first obstacle is “the growing convergence and interaction between the state and business sectors”. And continues on to say and imply that this created a powerful bloc “which has resisted the economic and political actors such as Islamists. To be fair, if one were look at today’s Muslim brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party one would find many of the faces that were big-scale business men before the January 25 revolution, and are today key-political figures in Egypt’s current ruling party.…

Water, the liquid commonly used for cleaning, has a property called surface tension. In the body of the water, each molecule is surrounded and attracted by other water molecules. However, at the surface, those molecules are surrounded by other water molecules only on the water side. A tension is created as the water molecules at the surface are pulled into the body of the water. This tension causes water to bead up on surfaces (glass, fabric), which slows wetting of the surface and inhibits the cleaning process. You can see surface…

There are several people without whom the creation of the CountryWatch Country Reviews could not have been accomplished. Robert Kelly, the Founder and Chairman of CountryWatch envisioned the original idea of CountryWatch Country Reviews as a concise and meaningful source of country-specific information, containing fundamental demographic, socio-cultural, political, economic, investment and environmental information, in a consistent format. Special thanks must be conveyed to Robert Baldwin, the Co-Chairman of CountryWatch, who championed the idea of intensified contributions by regional specialists in building meaningful content. Today, while I am responsible for the Herculean task of writing almost 200 CountryWatch Country Reviews, these monographs covering the recognized countries of the world simply would not exist without the research assistance of the current Editorial Department at CountryWatch. Accordingly, I would like to acknowledge the unique talents of Mary Ann Azevedo, Julie Zhu, Ryan Jennings, Ryan Holliway, Rachel Marcus, Cristy Kelly, Anne Marie Surnson and Michelle Hughes within the Editorial Department. These individuals faithfully expend long hours of work, incredible diligence and the highest degree of dedication in their efforts. For these reasons, they have my utmost gratitude and unflagging respect. A word of thanks must also be extended to colleagues in the academic world with whom specialized global knowledge has been shared and whose contributions to CountryWatch are enduring. Accordingly, I am indebted to Stanton Doyle, the former co-Editor of CountryWatch, Richard Marcus, the Director of the International Studies Program at California State University and former Africa Editor for CountryWatch, Brigette Allen former Latin America Editor for CountryWatch, and Christina Surowiec, former Regional Editor for CountryWatch. Also of vital importance is the…

Doing laundry has been a common household activity for years. Whether the technology was beating the garments on rocks by the river or pushing buttons on programmed washing machines, this process depends on water and a mechanical action usually assisted by soap or detergent. The purpose of a detergent is to remove ordinary stains and other matter. More often than not, the soap/detergent agent holds stains in suspension as they becomes loose during the wash cycle, and are subsequently flushed away during the rinse cycle and centrifugal spin.…
