Not only do the chairs look beautiful and vibrant but they are also technologically advanced for the time they were created. The Eiffel chair features the deep seat pocket which is constructed from durable plastic and shaped ergonomically to reduce stress on your legs. The base of the chair is made with a combination of four wooden dowels and 4 wires crisscrossing to resemble the Eiffel tower.
Charles and Ray adapted molding techniques from the World War II which enabled them to bend and weld the plastic seating along with the wire base. This Eiffel base is elegant, functional and at the same time its very durable as the wooden legs allow the chair to withstand high shocks during extensive usage.
Before the chair was officially released in 1950, Charles and Ray had to overcome the issue of creating a single shell seating. No material at the time managed to bend and flex while still remaining in one piece until plastic was discovered. The characteristics of plastic allowed the material to bend and be molded into different shapes while maintaining its original strength and nature, allowing the designers to create the perfect and comfortable seating. Since 1950 the plastic seating was made from fiberglass, but today the chairs are made from recyclable polypropylene this made the chairs environmental friendly exactly the way Charles wanted it.
The overall design of the chair is universal and advanced. The Eiffel chair is functional for every type of environment and it brings a charisma to any place.
