The first sign miracles Jesus performed were when he had gone to a wedding in Cana John 2:1-12). Jesus and his disciples (6 of them) had arrived at the wedding, which was already in progress. This miracle symbolizes the Church’s (the bride’s) relationship to Christ (The bridegroom). Mary, Jesus mother was at the wedding as well. She went to Jesus and told him that they had run out of wine. Mary probable was related to the bride because a wedding in Galilee was a family affair, and female’s relatives of the bride were in charge of the kitchens. Mary and Jesus were related to the bride because commentators think sense she took the initiative to so something about the wine. So Mary told the servant to do whatever Jesus asked them to do. They were to ask no question just do whatever was asked of them to do. Jesus really didn’t need the help of the servant but he chose to use them. This is the same when it comes to us God expects us to what we can. Jesus performed this miracle maybe because one His stamp of approval on marriage as a divine institution by His presence. Two the first miracle communicates typical truths regarding Christ’s preeminence in His relation to the church as His bride. Three Jesus was setting the stage for His ministry. Four He knew that wine was a sign of Joy. Wanted the world to know that there was joy (grace) in his coming. These are just some of the reason why Jesus may have performed his first miracle by turning water into wine. The miracle points to the deity of Christ in that its display his power over creation and a new beginning. John show it like this where Jesus change water into wine meaning that He changed the water of Judaism into the wine of Christianity, the water of the law into the wine of the gospel, the water of Christlessness into the wine of the richness and the fullness of eternal

Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day." A well-known miracle in The Bible is when Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. As Jesus and his disciples were traveling to Judea, they arrived in a town called Bethany. A woman named Martha approached Christ and explained to him that her brother, Lazarus, has been dead for four days. Christ reassures Martha that he is “the resurrection and the life” (“Raising of Lazarus”) and can perform unimaginable miracles. Jesus followed Martha back to Lazarus’s body, and he orders Lazarus to rise.…

Dickson confronts the problems for society believing in miracles since they occur only in small-minded children's tales. In Chapter 3, "The deeds that baffle," Dickson explains Jesus' stunning miracles as a preview of God's coming kingdom. Dickson argues that if one was to see that there were no forces in the universe other than the observable laws of nature, then a matter of uncertainty will occur. While if one believed in the miracles of Jesus, the whole puzzle would be completed.…

Marriage at Cana depicts the story of Christ’s first public miracle that was performed during a wedding feast in the small village of Cana found in Galilee, Israel. This scene from biblical studies appears in the second chapter of John. During a wedding feast, Christ’s mother whispers in his ear that the wine has been exhausted. Jesus claims that he is not ready but carries on. He asked the servants to fill six stone jars with water, and then miraculously transformed them into the finest wine. Notice how Steen never depicted the miracle directly; instead, he used the excuse of the miracle to paint an extravagant wedding party and feast. Jesus’ presence is hardly noticeable as he performs his miracle quietly in the middle ground on the left-hand side, identifiable only by a dim halo. Eyes modestly downcast, he is surrounded by an array of cheerful and disorderly characters celebrating the wedding, most of whom are oblivious to the miracle that just occurred. In the middle for example, stands a woman carrying a napkin full of leftovers, trying to discourage her drunken husband from sampling the “miraculous” beverage that had just appeared. To the right, behind her, a meaty cook oversees the feast, identified by his dirty white apron and a cloth for handling hot platters thrown over his right shoulder. He offers wine to the guests of honor, the bride and groom, seated under a grand canopy. Above, musicians play on the…

Jesus' first act was to be baptized by John the Baptist, a charismatic and ascetic figure who called people to repentance and baptized those who responded. This event marked the beginning of Jesus' ministry. After the baptism, several of John's followers left to follow Jesus. Jesus then selected several others until he had established a group of 12 disciples. Jesus then spent from one to three years teaching and working miracles among his disciples and before large crowds. His recorded miracles included turning water to wine, walking on water, cursing a fig tree, healing the sick, multiplying a small meal to feed a crowd, casting out demons, and even raising a man from the dead.…

“Jesus said to the servants, ‘Fill the jars with water’; so they filled them to the brim…‘Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.’…And the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine (John 2:7-9).” In Jewish culture, not having wine for guests symbolized the host could not provide for his family. When Jesus was asked for help, it seems unnatural to turn water into wine as opposed to putting grapes in a jar and turning the fruit into wine. However, consider the making of wine. Once the grapes were crushed and turned into a syrup, it was stored away to ferment. When it…

Mark is also broken up into two sections, the first portion (1:14-10:52) relates to Jesus’ preaching and healing around Galilee, and the second section tells more about the conflicts Jesus encounters in his life, his arrest, trial, death and resurrection. Before chapter two of Mark, Jesus is baptized by John the Baptist and calls his first disciples to follow him, and lastly he heals a man with an unclean spirit, Simon’s mother in law and cleanses a leper. These healings were just the start of miracles Jesus worked throughout the Gospel of Mark. After the chapter, Jesus heals a magnitude of others who are suffering and begins to gain attention from many of the…

Miracles are something wonderful and good that happens, especially something believed to have supernatural or a divine cause. A miracle is an event not ascribable to human power or the laws of nature and consequently attributed to a supernatural, especially divine, agency. Such an event may be attributed to a miracle worker, saint, or religious leader. A miracle is sometimes thought of as a perceptible interruption of the laws of nature. Some Christians suggest that God may work with the laws of nature to perform what are considered miracles. Theologians say that, with divine providence, God regularly works through created nature yet is free to work without, above, or against it as well.…

Jesus Christ was born to Joseph and Mary born in a manger and was first discovered by some wise men traveling through the dessert. His childhood consisted of growing in the town of Nazareth where he was baptized at the age of 30. Shortly after being baptized, Jesus was led into the dessert by God where he fasted for forty days. While fasting, the devil tried to tempt Jesus 3 times, but he did not give in to temptation. When Jesus returned from the dessert he started preaching and teaching the ways of God to the people of Nazareth. “He started to perform miracles that included healings, exorcisms, walking on water, turning water into wine, and raising several people, from the dead.” (Wikipedia) He had 12 apostles which soon become his disciples and followers. They were told by Jesus to spread the word of God and to warn people of the ending of this world until everything remained perfect. Jesus and his followers traveled to Jerusalem during a Passover festival and they were greeted with great joy. While there he made one of the kings unhappy, was betrayed by one of his disciples, and was arrested for blasphemy. After his arrest, his disciples went into hiding and Jesus was crucified.…

Tri Perspective view of Christ of everyday life has to do with three of His characteristics that make Him Jesus. Prophet, confronts; Priest, comforts; and King, commands. The three perspectives that involve traits that describe Him are : prophet + king - priest = legalistic Jesus, prophet + priest - king = moralistic Jesus, priest + king - prophet = liberal Jesus. Out of these three I most easily identify with, moralistic view of Jesus. The reason why I feel like I view Jesus like this most of the times is because, there are times where I am scared of what God wants for me. It sounds really stupid but sometimes I want to control my life even though I am sure that He will comfort and that He also confronts me and I will understand. I do not…

During his ministry, Jesus performed seven miracles. The first was turning water to wine, showing how Jesus was the life-giver. His next six miracles dealt with healing the official’s son, healing the paralytic, feeding the five thousand, calming the storm, and healing the blind man. Each showed Jesus as the healer of the brokenhearted, freer of the oppressed, food for the soul, master over our fear, and restorer of sight to blind sinner. The final miracle Jesus performed was raising Lazarus from the dead. John 11:1-45 tells the story of Lazarus. When Jesus arrived to mourn, the people angered Jesus because they did not have enough faith. He then wept for the death of his friend and prayed for the people to believe. Doing the impossible, Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, displaying his divine power and authority and foreshadowing his own resurrection. With this divine act, Jesus showed that he…

Starting with Christology one can start to examine the Gospels of John and Mark, where they agree and disagree. Jesus’ proclamation of his Deity resulted in skepticism as seen in John 5:18, “calling God his own Father, thereby making himself equal to God. Jesus said to them, ‘Very truly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, the Son does likewise”. Jesus tries to explain that even though He claims to have God as his Father and Him being equal to God, He is doing what God is calling him to do. He is doing God’s will and spreading the word of God. Similarly in Mark 2:5, when “Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.’ Now some of the scribes were sitting there questioning and wondering, “Who can forgive sins but God alone?” Another instance of the inquiring and searching that a lot of people had towards Jesus’ teachings. Both John and Mark, depict the adversities He had to deal through his journey on Earth. A similar theme that is seen in both gospels is the way Jesus went about his ‘secret’ mission of spreading His divinity can be seen in Mark 5:40, “He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha come, and immediately the girl got up and began to walk about. At this they were overcome with amazement. He strictly ordered…
