Jesus has a great love for his people and wants to bring them to him so that they could go with him to heaven. Throughout his lifetime, Jesus performed many miracles. Even John wrote that there had been so many miracles that no book could contain them all. However, Jesus did not use these sensations to show how great and powerful he was. He used the miracles to show the people around him what he is the Messiah and he is the man the Old Testament wrote about. He did not need to perform these wonders, but he did so that other may believe in him. Not only did Jesus perform many miracles, but he also gave us seven “I Am” statements. Through these statements Jesus proves he is the Son of God. Each “I Am’ statement equated Jesus with His father, God. Hoping to give us a better understanding of who he is, Jesus gave us his miracles and “I am” statements.
During his ministry, Jesus performed seven miracles. The first was turning water to wine, showing how Jesus was the life-giver. His next six miracles dealt with healing the official’s son, healing the paralytic, feeding the five thousand, calming the storm, and healing the blind man. Each showed Jesus as the healer of the brokenhearted, freer of the oppressed, food for the soul, master over our fear, and restorer of sight to blind sinner. The final miracle Jesus performed was raising Lazarus from the dead. John 11:1-45 tells the story of Lazarus. When Jesus arrived to mourn, the people angered Jesus because they did not have enough faith. He then wept for the death of his friend and prayed for the people to believe. Doing the impossible, Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, displaying his divine power and authority and foreshadowing his own resurrection. With this divine act, Jesus showed that he
