Monotheism, the existence of one universal God, impacted Western civilization in various ways. The second Isaiah describes the strongest statement of Hebrew monotheism in a poem written during the Hebrew exile in Babylonia, 597-539 B.C.E. In this poem, God is described as the creator of the heavens, the earth, and life to the universe. God cannot be worshipped through pictures. The Hebrew God also changes how followers behave. To get God’s approval, a person must act righteously. These beliefs are still practiced in modern Christianity.…

As a local television Director, my main focus is on the local news and the issues that affect the community in which I live. I would choose to make the closing of the parks for three days my lead story and leave the celebrity death to the bigger networks. My first priority is to report news that affects the citizens of the community that I serve, even with the prospect of bigger ratings; I would feel an obligation to my audience to report issues that are more closely related to them.…

The form of media that is very popular is music. This is something that is worldwide is so many different languages. Music has been a part of our lives for decades and it is a media that is not going away at all. There are many different types of music from Country, Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Gospel, Rock, Jazz and many more. Music is more than just entertainment, it something that can relax you, keep you motivated, or be able to relate to what the person is singing about. Music for me is a way to release stress and to relax when I’m in the car going home, at the gym working out, or at home working on my car. Music has been changing with the way technology has and making the quality of sound much better than it was in the 60’s and 70’s. Music is a big influence on young kids and older people and for some it’s a way for them to express themselves through there music. The way people feel about music can change how they feel about something or if there in a bad mood it can help relieve some of the stress. Music has done a lot for different charities from Breast Cancer, Feeding the Hunger, and for Aids research. Music is not just entertainment as most people may think, this is something that is a way of life for the people that produce and write music. So for me music has always been a part of my life and my family and will continue to be a part of my life and my…

The first argument I chose from the essay states “It is unlikely, for example, that many Americans remember that, earlier in 2001, an earthquake in Gujarat, India, killed approximately 20,000 people. One might explain the difference in reaction by saying that we naturally respond more strongly to the deaths of Americans closer to home than to those of others halfway around the world.” The premise of this argument is when the author states “It is unlikely, for example, that many Americans remember that, earlier in 2001, an earthquake in Gujarat, India, killed approximately 20,000 people”; the conclusion is “One might explain the difference in reaction by saying that we naturally respond more strongly to the deaths of Americans closer to home than to those of others halfway around the world.” The premise of this argument does support the conclusion of the statement. I believe this argument is inductively strong. The argument is strong because it evokes emotions of patriotism. The argument is inductive in the way that it uses the words “unlikely” and “naturally.”…
