Embryonic Stem Cell Persuasive Speech
Well hello you!! How would you feel if I told you that injuries and disease can be prevented. The Things that you suffer with could be taken away and no more worries. I would like to introduce you to Embryonic Stem Cell. Embryonic stem cell are by most scientists and researchers to cure spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, cancer, Alzheimer's diseases, heart disease, hundreds of rare immune system and genetic disorders and much more. These Embryonic Stem cell have the ability to form doll adult cell types. Stem cells are found limited quantities in every human body, and can be extracted from adult tissue with great effort but without harm. I believe that embryonic stem cell are beneficial because …show more content…
Using the proper treatment of these disease individual will get significant social benefits and the Society will have economic gains. Because of this disease impact on the Society. The stem cells therapy can also be a course of action which can be used to save the existing life. When using the Embryonic system it guarantees that the cell are free of genetic disease unlike the adult cells which may have some genetic diseases and will not be able to form a reliable cure. But stem cells can be also used to repair damaged tissues in a process known regenerative medicine. Nevertheless Spinal Cord injuries will be able to be treated as a result of using stem cells which can regrow the damaged spinal cord. Also there will not be any need for organ transplant because the stem cell can allow the regrowth of a person’s organ lost either through an accident, tissue damage or disease. This will make it easier for the receiver as the organ will come from their own DNA and therefore there will not be any risk of organ. The fact that most people will not approve any use of public money to destroy human embryos in any type of medical research, but what if it was you? Would you want to suffer all your

Due to recent discoveries, stem cell research will have many future medical possibilities. A recent stem cell breakthrough shows that cloning human organs or body parts to treat patients with injured organs or limb deficiencies could be possible. “The cloning techniques can also be used to grow organs for patients with a failing liver or kidney.” Because the newly cloned organ will be genetically identical to the one being replaced, rather than a donated one, the chances of it being rejected will be very low. Ultimately, this opens up many possibilities of curing patients with injuries, amputations, and failing organs. Stem cell research also reveals the ability to cure diseases. “Researcher Dieter Egli said their work was inspired by the thought of being able to take stem cells from embryos and use them to treat and even cure diseases. Worn out hearts could be patched up, aged brains could be rejuvenated and diabetics could be freed from the need to take insulin, all thanks to stem cells.” Stem cell researchers believe it is possible to cure diseases by replacing old organs with newly cloned ones. This will impact future medical possibilities because newer treatments will be out there and the ability to cure diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer may be possible. Furthermore, federal funding for stem cell research has been limited although by the popularity of its breakthroughs; stem cell research may receive federal funding in the near future. This will broaden stem cell research and allow scientists a greater chance of discovering new medical possibilities in the near…

First, where do stem cells come from, and what properties do they exhibit that make them stem cells? Human embryonic stem cells come from an embryo that develops from an egg. These eggs were originally collected for reproductive purposes. The eggs are fertilized in vitro, and the embryo is donated for research. The donation only happens after the eggs are no longer needed. The donor is informed of the intended use, and consent has been given. These stem cells are found when the embryo is between three and five days old. The embryo, at this point in development, is called a blastocyst. It is the inner group of cells in the blastocyst that contains the stem cells. “Stem cells have three unique properties: they can divide and renew themselves for long periods; they are unspecialized; and they can give rise to specialized cell types ("What Are the Unique Properties of All Stem Cells?").”…

Doctors, researchers, patients and virtually anyone interested in the future of medicine are intrigued by the key role human embryonic stem cell research could have in curing well-known diseases such as cancer. As much as people are curious about how it could advance medicine in incredible ways, there remains the issue of whether finding a cure using human embryos is ethically sound. The answer to this question is heavily dependent on what status society should accord to the human embryo. Bonnie Steinbock’s “The science, policy, and ethics of stem cell research” is an article published on Reproductive BioMedicine Online that digs deep into this ongoing ethical conflict.…

They are used to help heal several types of cancer. Researchers are using stem cells to research stem cell treatments for parkinsons, diabetes and many other health problems. Along with researching cures and treatments, researchers also use stem cells to discover how the body repairs itself. As well as being used in medicine, the body uses stem cells to heal damaged tissue using stem cells. Some scientists are trying to discover the process of how the body heals with stem cells. Even though stem cells are valuable to medicine, it is challenging to acquire them. When obtained, very few stem cells are obtained. In the medical field, stem cells have many…

Most of the controversy surrounding embryonic stem cell research stems from the idea that the destruction of human embryos is equivalent to killing a human being. While I do believe human life is sacred and should be protected at all costs, I also believe that if there’s a way to cure millions of people of disease then we should assess how we should go about doing that. To me, curing grandpa’s lung disease using four to five day old blastocysts seems like a reasonable option in comparison to letting him die and rendering the embryos utterly useless as they’ll sit in a freezer or be eventually thrown away. Right to Life Michigan argues that scientists shouldn’t use embryonic stem cell research because 90% of couples choose to use their embryos for future pregnancies (If They Say… You Say…). In reality, the government requires complete disclosure to the couple and their consent before scientists can do anything with their embryos (National Institutes of Health Guidelines on Human Stem Cell Research). The benefit of helping sick and ailing people is exponentially greater than letting embryonic stem cells sit and collect…

Embryonic stem cells can potentially cause tumors due to the rapid growth when injected into adults. Another big issue with the research of the embryonic stem cells is that in the far future, this could lead to the knowledge on human cloning. Seeing as embryonic stem cells come from the embryos, adult stem cells biggest advantage is that the body’s own stem cells can be used, effectively removing the problems of immune rejection or abnormalities. Many people who are religious would argue that harvesting the embryo is against belief. This is a main controversy because these people believe that the four-five day old embryo has a soul and is evidently murdered when harvested. They believe that the research on these cells violates the sanctuary of life. Their argument is that the embryo in the situation is a potential human being and see the fertilized egg as starting a…

The undifferentiated cells of a human embryo, referred to as stem cells, hold limitless promise for medical research. When a human embryo consists of not more than 64 cells, its cells are able to learn new ways of being. If injected into a diseased kidney, they take on many of the properties of ordinary kidney cells, and may help the kidney to perform its normal function. This seems to hold for any organ, even any kind of cell. (Goldstein) This is exciting medical researchers, because it means that the cells from an early embryo could cure leukemia, enable people with diabetes to manufacture insulin, treat Parkinson 's and Alzheimer 's disease, and repair the nerve systems of quadriplegics.…

What exactly is stem cell research about? Did you know that stem cell research has been around for over 30 years now? According to “Stem Cells for Dummies” the book, stem cells are primitive or unspecialized cells that can help in tissue repair and rejuvenation. When they divide, stem cells have the potential to become any type of cell needed, such as brain, blood or muscle cells, this is what makes them different from other types of cells. There are a couple of different stem cells however, adult stem cells and embryonic. Different kinds of stem cells have different abilities and limitations. Adult stem cells can reproduce themselves and create specific types of cells, but how flexible they are still remains a question. Embryonic stem cells appear to be the most flexible, able to grow indefinitely in the lab and give rise to all the cell types in the adult body.…

What are meant by stem cells and how might they be used? There are many types of stem cell, but they share several interesting properties that set them aside from other cell types. The adult body contains hundreds of specialised or "differentiated" cell types, each playing a particular role. Some of these are long lived and do not divide, such as nerve cells; others are short lived and need to be replaced through cell division. Usually, when cells divide, their daughter cells are identical and of the same type as the parent cell. In other words they divide symmetrically. Additionally, their fate and their properties are fixed – once a liver cell, always a liver cell.…
