Eminem And Drake: The Most Successful Rappers In The Music Industry
Have you ever wondered how rappers become so successful and get to where they are now? Not all of them came from rich families and were able to pay to contribute to their rise to fame, some had to work hard to get where they are. Eminem and Drake started from the bottom and are now two of the most successful rappers in the music industry. Eminem, also known as Slim Shady, was born on October 17, 1972 in St. Joseph Missouri. His full name is Marshall Bruce Mathers, but he thought it’d be comical to go by his initials M&M which he later started writing as Eminem. Eminem was raised by his mother because his father abandoned him when he was still an infant. According to Shady, his mother physically and mentally abused him as well as being addicted …show more content…

His full name is Aubrey Drake Graham which he is better known by his middle name, Drake. Like Eminem, he was also raised by his mother. The only differences are he knew his father, which left after his parents got divorced at the age of five, and his mother was not abusive towards Drake in any way, shape, or form. Unlike Eminem, Drake came from a very musical background. His father was a drummer for rock star Jerry Lee Lewis. His mother was a Jew, so he was very religious growing up. Similar to Eminem, he also felt very isolated in high school. His talent first began to appear in 2006 when he released his first mixtape. He was an actor for the hit tv show Degrassi, but was working on his rapping career on the side. After they eliminated his character from the show, he started to fear that he would have to get a day job to make a steady income until his rapping career took off. "I was coming to terms with the fact that ... I might have to work at a restaurant or something just to keep things going," he remembered. Early in 2008, he received an unexpected phone call from famous rapper Lil Wayne to come join him on …show more content…

It was definitely a start to his career. Drake didn’t release his first album, Thank Me Later until later down the road in 2010 after he already had begun to gain fame.
Eminem’s first big success was when his first debut album The Slim Shady LP was discovered and released by Dr. Dre in 1997. Drake’s first big success was when his mixtape So Far Gone dropped and was discovered by Lil Wayne in February of 2009. Although they were both discovered by big time rappers, they didn’t get to the top from their first big success. They still had to keep working to climb their way up the musical food chain.
Eminem’s biggest success was probably The Marshall Mathers LP, released in May of 2000, which gained worldwide attention, nomination for Album of the Year, as well as the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. It is now considered one of the best rap albums of all time. Drake’s biggest success was his studio album Take Care, released in November of 2011, which also received the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album as well as several other
