can continue without that being reciprocated. The truth is that you are only around fifteen, that’s such a huge thing to say. It’s a commitment. The word love has been so overused it’s meaning has been diminished. We love pizza, Friday’s, and nights without homework. Some of us will say we love practically anything, but then we try to throw that word at people we care for and expect it to carry some huge significance. How can it when it is so recklessly used? The real definition of love, the definition our generation has long lost sight of is, “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).” Unless you are ready for that kind of promise don’t say it, you’ll only further take away from it’s so precious meaning. Additionally, never feel guilty for not saying I love you back, if the other person really loves you they can respect the fact that you want to wait longer before jumping into such a huge statement.
When it comes to dating and friends there are a couple things I would suggest.
Don’t date your friend’s ex boyfriend or girlfriend, but if you do give it plenty of time. Also, be aware that while you can ask for permission sometimes it doesn’t matter because the other person doesn’t feel as if they can say no. Saying no makes you feel selfish and controlling, and after all if you care about them you will want to say yes for their happiness. Imagine a scenario in which a guy, breaks up with his girlfriend and just days later is talking about asking her good friend to the next dance. Not only is it hard for that old girlfriend to see her friend dating him, her confidence was just majorly shaken. How could he have cared for her so much if it took him just days to replace her? She begins to feel as though she wasn’t good enough, and it begins to give her the idea that it had been his intentions to do that all along. Not only is she upset she now has little to no trust in her old friend. All she can do is tell them to go ahead and do whatever makes them happy, she really doesn’t mind. Additionally, rumors spread like wildfire, and everyone now knows of the story and people begin to talk poorly about them, recognizing the wrong that was committed. In this situation, regardless of what their intentions really were, both reputations of the guy and girl were tarnished, and the other was left feeling
terrible.
