Emotions In Romeo And Juliet

Emotions are all around us and take over our daily lives. Throughout the play, the readers would listen to Romeo and Juliet talk about their undying love for each other. Romeo and Juliet were two teenagers from two feuding families. They then fell in love after they met each other at the Capulet’s ball. Romeo and Juliet get married after about two days of knowing each other, but Romeo then is banished from being in a fight in the streets. Not long after, Juliet helps come up with a plan that gets her and Romeo together again. Romeo thinks that she is dead so, he then kills himself. Juliet woke up to see her love dead and then she also killed herself. Through this story, both Romeo and Juliet think in a more emotional way rather than a logical way. Because they were so blindsided by their love, they could not see anything else that was going on. Their emotions got in the way and was the cause of their deaths.
For example, Friar Lawrence came up with many plans for both Romeo and Juliet that could solve many of their problems. His most thoughtful one was how he was going to get Romeo and Juliet back together and to avoid marrying Juliet to Paris (IV.i.89-120). There was also a point where Juliet thought logically. She knew that she could not marry Paris because she was already married to Romeo and she would be breaking a law of the Church. “Since the limbic system matures earlier, it is more likely to gain an upper hand in decision making” (“Teens and Decision Making: What Brain Science Reveals”) It must have been the limbic system that made the decisions for Juliet and Romeo.
