These steps are: An employer should reevaluate their hiring policies and procedures, so that it includes a complete work history including any gaps, verify references and a complete background check. Most importantly an employer should create and encourage an employee culture and friendly workplace, so that employees would never consider committing or inflicting workplace violence on the co-workers, supervisors or managers. Managers should always be aware that there is a connection between workplace violence and a weakening atmosphere can lead to workplace violence. If employees feel that working environment is not a friendly and that they cannot freely speak up then there is a greater chance that even if they suspect an employee has the potential of becoming violent, they will not speak up. For this reason employers need to keep the lines of communication open with their employees. Employers should create a strategy of how they will investigate the possibility of an employee becoming potential violent. Employees need to know that the organization has a plan in place that will help protect them if something was to happen or if someone was to report another
