Empowerment gave all three characters the power to achieve their tasks in each of their respected stories. In Beast of the Southern Wild, Hushpuppy is empowered by her will to become stronger. A saying that is constantly repeated by Wink and Hushpuppy is “Beast it” which initiates Hushpuppy to be stronger than she already is. She is also empowered by her obligation to find her mother. When Wink becomes weaker and close to death, she is entitled to help Wink get better. This also shows that she is empowered by love and family.
