Endangered Species Act Argumentative Essay

We all know that the United States attempts to make sure we protect our wildlife and endangered species, but what do these protection laws really address? It has been brought to my concern because I have lived in one of the best ecosystems in California, I have been interested in the Endangered Species Act ever since I’ve lived around the Tahoe area. First, the Endangered Species Act focuses on the conservation and protection of species that are considered at harm in their habitat. Secondly, this act helps create awareness of species that they’re trying to help protect. Next, it helps set up regulations and if any reports of poaching, or killing of these species gets reported, they can instantly take direct action. For example, in California
if you are caught killing a mountain lion you can be charged with some hefty fines and possible jail time. That is because mountain lions are considered to be endangered in this state. Some of the short comings of the Endangered Species Act would be the number of endangered species that are considered endangered. The act only focuses on a small portion of endangered species, whereas it should focus on all of them. It is considered to be high cost and it has generated a very low recovery rate. In my opinion, I feel that the overall aspect of the Endangered Species Act is a good approach. In addition, now that the foundation has been created we can now encourage for a reform. Have the U.S. Fish and Wildlife create more jobs for people by having them monitor and work around the clock to help the protection of those species that are considered to be endangered. Furthermore, the Endangered Species Act is a great piece of legislature that emphasizes the protection of wildlife.
