English 10 Reflection
To be in a class that consisted of writing all the time, English 10 was beneficial because I had learned a lot from it. English 10 has taught me a lot throughout the semester, and has showed me how to write efficiently in different ways. Before the semester, I was nervous because I felt like English 10 was going to be too advanced for me, but I later learned that I was in the right place. I had a great professor who was always there to help and give advice on my work. I set up days to meet up and talk about improvements I can do to my essay. I know my writing was never up to par, but with the time I spent in the class and going to conferences I was able to improve. During my time in this class, I was required to write two papers each with five full pages. However, one had to be a rhetorical essay and the other was our choice. Unknowingly how to start either of these papers, I went along with it and eventually …show more content…
This paper shows how deeply this tax affects women in the United States. This puts limits women and does gender discrimination. Unlike other countries who puts tampons as medical, we have them has a luxury. Compared to the European nations, pads and tampons are a health product of ‘necessities’, which means that it is taxed exempted from the VAT (Crawford, Spivach 3). For this essay, I had a problem with organizing my thoughts with the article or book. I did not know whether I sounded like I was attacking the situation or just bringing awareness. However, after rereading I concluded switching around my wording and syntax. This was a long process because of grammar, but this essay no longer questioned my views. This was not my only problem with my second essay. I wanted to talk about the tax, but I mainly targeted how it affects the public, especially women. Due to this, I had to go back and change my thesis to match up to what I wanted to talk about and inform readers about the

After conducting an analysis of each reading I have come up with 3 golden rules of what makes a good book for an English 1102 course. There are many things that make a good book, for me, if it relates to my life in any way, inspires me, or helps me gain insight then it is a good book. A good book for English 1102 is more than just a well-written story.…

When it comes to writing papers, I usually have a difficult time getting started. I sometimes have trouble with certain topics, getting the general concept, and then turning it into a writing that will get my point across. I feel as if I’m not very creative with my words as I should be without sounding so scattered brained and lost. I was a little nervous when entering English 1102, after having such a difficult time in English 1101 online. At first I did feel at ease but once we got to doing research on a particular food and the articles, I did have some challenging moments. In in the end I did pull my works together and I plan on sharing some of my reflections while taking a look back on a couple of my papers.…

I am fluent in French, but that's not going to do me any good. I can read the handwriting on the wall. Mexicans are prouder of their heritage than Americans are which means English will soon become a dead language. So next week I'm going out to San Diego State and see if I can enroll in just one class for starters - Spanish 101. I'm telling you, if you've got kids get them into Spanish classes…

This class has taught me many things about myself along with many necessary skills needed while writing. I know now that, through hard work and determination, I can achieve what I might think to be impossible. While reflecting back on my initial writing abilities, I see the weak, uneducated style of writing. Each essay shows my progression and improvement, and, after a while, the class began to become much easier. Today, after practicing throughout my essays this semester, I believe that I, in fact, have…

English 101 however, helped me improved the areas in which I was weak in from high school. Before, it was difficult to find the bigger meaning of an article, poem, or any form of writing in general. However, with the help from taking this course I was able to figure out how to add meaning to the essay. I also learned how to add evidence and analysis them better in my body paragraphs as well. It was difficult in the past, but now I gained skills such as outlining, writing rough drafts and the organization needed for a successful essay. I hope in English 102 that I will use my English 101 skills and be even more skilled in my essay writing. I also hope to learn more about adding evidence within the paragraphs and honing in the essay to make it all flow together. Also in English 102 I hope that I will learn to be more confident with my essays. I have talked in a couple of assignments where my confidence makes me question whether or not to add certain analysis into essays which sometimes may have made my grade not as good as it could have been. In English 102, I hope I will not question myself as much and show more confidence. I also wish to eliminate repetition in English 102. I have received many comments that I repeat my analysis a lot and that also cuts of some points of my grade. I need to continue the analysis more rather than just repeat it in a different way. With these two core English classes that I have/will take, I know that my foundation in writing will be…

When the semester began I thought to my knowledge that my writing was that of good quality. Though I had a good basic understanding of the format of an essay or letter I still had a lot to learn. My writing changed in many ways such as learning to eliminate unnecessary wording in my thesis, the use of synonyms, analyzing quotes and writing abstract to concrete thoughts or ideas. This Class not only helped enhance my writing abilities but to also better evaluate the writings of others and forced me to acknowledge the rigorous work of future courses in college.…

Completing english 110 again is somewhat difficult, the last time that I sat in a class room learning how to write the perfect essay was 2000. I did not realize all the material that I had forgotten in that sixteen year period. I am happy that I enrolled in English 110, it did help improve my writing. I know my writing was weak initially, it has improved with this class but there is still along way to go for me to become a better writer, like my dad use to say “there is always room for improvement.” I did learn the proper structure for the narrative, descriptive and compare and contrast essays, along with developing a good thesis for those essays. One area that I saw improve, was the “verbs to avoid.” I did not realize how often I used…

As my English 101 class comes to an end there are many valuable lessons we learned in this class. We learned how to respond to the author. We learned how to write in the They Say/I Say style, which I plan on using this style to write in most of my papers from now on. Another lesson we learned in this class was how to create a thesis with tension. The lessons I learned in English 101 will most likely be used again as I progress on with English 102 as well as the rest of my college career.…

My writing has changed a lot in my first-semester essay writing class. I finally took a class that teaches me useful information and how to properly write an essay. Essay Writing overall was a fun experience it was a slow start for me in the beginning but once I was able to get the work done I was fine. There were a lot of positives to taking this class. I started the year struggling to come up with ideas to write about nut now I can brainstorm and put my words down on the paper better than ever. “If I could travel anyplace in the world for free, I would want to go to North Korea. I would love to see what it's like.” I struggled with proper punctuation and the use of commas and such throughout my high school career and I still struggle with it I hope to learn more about it in the near future. “Cars are one of the best inventions ever.” I needed some direction on making my sentences longer with getting to the point at the same time. There's a lot of small things I need to still improve on but I feel like I got a good start with the Essay Writing course. I got a lot of useful feedback from Mrs.Pennings on all my essays like when to use certain words and proper punctuation and some compliments the really…

One of my more enriching experiences occurred during my freshman year of high school. For years, I strove for straight A's, and for years I received them. Over time I constructed a mentality, and underlying self-confidence that I would receive an A no matter what. Due to my over-confidence, I was under the impression that I would not have to put forth much effort; however, near the conclusion of the second semester, I had a B in Pre-AP English 9. Despite my last push to earn a 90% in the class with the concluding assignments of the semester, my grade was finalized lower than I had wished for. It felt as if a five pound ball of lead materialized in the pit of my stomach. This experience, at first, devastated me to the fullest extent, and I…
