English 101 Reflective Essay
Learning to write and write effectively is a lesson that is never fully completed. It is a journey with no final destination because there are infinite improvements that can be made to any literary work regardless of its status. Drafting can go on indefinitely knowing when to consider your paper complete is a very important skill. I believe that, through the assistance on English 101 and the writing center, I have effectively learned where to draw the line on a finished paper. There are many different qualities that make up a good paper. Among other things, the qualities that I believe I have improved upon based off of what I have been taught in English 101the most are online researching, citations, and thesis development.
Some of the worst grades I have received on papers have not been due to content error, but because of technical aspects that I did wrong. An example of this would be my lack of paraphrasing when writing for a research paper. Once I have read something phrased a certain way, it is very difficult for me to word it differently. Gathering research is most likely my weakest link in writing a paper. This is because I can never keep all of my notes organized

In a science course this year, I made a 64 on my first paper due to incorrect citations. In line documentations was also something I had not been quite sure how to do previously. In English 101, I was taught how to use Easybib.com which was of tremendous assistance to me in my research papers. Not only did Easybib.com improve my grades in English 101, but in my science course as well. Correct in line citations are also very important because without them whatever you end up writing is plagiarism. Plagiarism is basically the worst problem you can have in a research paper. Through Easybib.com and in class discussions, I believe I have improved in this field

As a writer, there are things that I do well, but there are also things I could improve on to make my writing better. I’m pretty good at getting my point across, and getting people to understand what I’m trying to say. Another thing I’m good at is just writing the paper. Once I get started on a paper it is very easy for me to just keep writing until I’m done with it. However, when doing this I tend to not use the best grammar and be too wordy with my writing. I can definitely fix these issues, and continue to build on the things that I do well.…

I like to write so that really keeps me motivated. I also try to be really good about looking over my papers; especially reading them out loud helps pick out the errors. Some of my weaknesses as a writer are I’m not very good at making a start or an ending; they usually just get jumbled up with the rest of the paper. I also feel I am not very good with commas.…

July 1993, Lexington, Kentucky. A woman gives birth to a beautiful baby girl with seven holes in her heart; thus began 19 years of visits to an esteemed cardiologist. Extremely worried, her parents inquired regarding their daughter's future, alleviating their worries, the doctor's advice to them was to be diligent and "treat her as you would a normal child." Knowing I have been different did not stop me from participating fully in life, especially during my childhood. In December 2012, we received the wonderful news that the final hole had closed. The odds were in my favor since I have been lucky to have never needed surgery, nor required hospital care from a critical injury. I believe that there is a reason I exist on this earth; and my blueprint…

As my English 101 class comes to an end there are many valuable lessons we learned in this class. We learned how to respond to the author. We learned how to write in the They Say/I Say style, which I plan on using this style to write in most of my papers from now on. Another lesson we learned in this class was how to create a thesis with tension. The lessons I learned in English 101 will most likely be used again as I progress on with English 102 as well as the rest of my college career.…

In this task I will be reflecting upon an incident undertaken on area of my work. The model of reflection I’ve chosen is Gibbs (1988), which involves reflection on the description, feelings, evaluation, conclusion and action plan (Gibbs 1988). The Gibbs (1988) reflective cycle is fairly straightforward and encourages a clear description of the situation, analysis of feelings, evaluation of the experience, analysis to make sense of the experience, conclusion where other options are considered and reflection upon experience to examine what you would do if the situation arose again. The procedure in which I will be reflecting upon is Last offices; I chose this due to how constructive and valuable it was in my personal and professional development as a student practitioner nurse.…

As nervous as I was when I walked into Saint Joseph Catholic School (K-8) for my first day of kindergarten, I never thought I would be able to leave after 6th grade and enter the world of middle school. In a small school of about 400 kids, I was familiar with every face that passed by me in the hallway. I got to know the kids in my grade so well and we all knew each other’s life stories. By the time I was in 6th grade at Saint Joseph, some of my friends were planning on going to Kinard middle school in 7th grade. At this point in my life, I was not completely content with where I was going to school. The realization came to me that it was time to move on. It was time for me to try something new.…

As the first semester of freshmen year comes to a close, we as an English 100 class have written about many different topics throughout the course. We started with an introductory paper about ourselves, followed by a paper that we shared what life lessons we wanted to pass down to our children, next came a description essay where we went into as much detail as we possibly could on one or two photos we found, second to last was a persuasive paper, and our final paper was all about any country we chose. As we went from paper to paper my writing only improved as I learned new skills and better ways to write.…
