If everyone spoke one language (English, for example). It would lead to better international relations.
Many people have got a different opinion about having one single language all over the world, some believe that it would be better to have one and others think it's better to have multiply spoken languages. In my opinion it would lead to better international relations if everyone spoke one language.

When you travel to another country which has got a different language you will get known with the language barrier. For example, if I don't speak any word french and I want to know the way to the supermarket than I can't even ask them because I wont understand it. With one international spoken language I could ask them things like these.
Having one language will make you able to read all the signboards abroad, which won't cause any troubles of misunderstanding the signs.
In case of emergency you would be able to get quicker help because you can easily express yourself faster.

There is a strong social division between people who believe that it would be better to have one single language all over the world and other who defend that diversification of languages is not an obstacle to have good international relations. However, it is a waste of time to

Think about the Internet technology, the world we live now has become a village because of it. The Internet makes everyone interconnected by following a set of clear-stated standardized rules. Just like the Internet, a common language also has such power. In another word, it`s a “unifying force” according to S. I. Hayakawa(you need to cite him here). In his essay “Bilingualism in America: English Should Be the Only Language”, Hayakawa starts with the example of the new generations of Chinese and Japanese immigrants in California to show the “amicable results of sharing the English language” (575). The two original groups of immigrants who speak different languages used to be at odds with each other, but new generations get along well by sharing English. There is no doubt that a common language makes efficient communication possible and helps to create a perception of affiliation.…

Long before, our Founding Fathers did not find it necessary to create an official language. With almost everybody already speaking English, the topic didn’t prove to be controversial enough to debate. Many people feel that our nation’s unity is blocked by this language barrier. By destroying this barrier, people will communicate easier. Clear communication is the key to a smooth running society. When chaos strikes and nobody can understand what the other is saying, problems can escalate. Sadly, this statement is reflected in the countless medical mistakes caused by misunderstandings.…

There are many ongoing debates on whether or not our children should learn more than one language. I feel that it is imperative in today’s society to know more than one language. Knowing more than one language opens up so many doors. It looks great on a resume to show that you are bilingual. Most people still have the misconception that Spanish is the language that is the only language that would be worth their time learning. Actually the 2nd most spoken language in the world is Chinese; Spanish is third followed by Japanese and then French. In order for our children to compete in the world market they must speak at least one of these languages in my opinion. Our population is changing and the world is becoming more diverse. We must expose our children to other languages and cultures so they realize that the world is much bigger than what is outside of our door and we must make an effort to communicate with everyone in it.…

One Standard English will allow for everyone to to understand each other seeing as everyone will be speaking the same language. It will also ease communication and eliminate any language confusion. Having a Standard English will help develop a proficiency in a single English. America will reduce undocumented immigrants by adopting a standard form of English. In the reading by Amy Tan “Mother Tongue” the author talks about how by having a limited English people don’t take you seriously and don’t understand the words your speaking. Having a Standard English would limit confusion and frustration by others who wouldn’t be able to understand or comprehend a broken and limited English spoken by others but it will cause language elimination and leave us with one language for everyone to speak which will be hard for non-English speakers.…

The ability to unite separate societies and enable them to communicate fluently is not as important as maintaining the identity of those utilizing the language. According to the Sign Language article on The World Federation of the Deaf website, this is why laws have been set into place to protect cultures. If a universal language were to be taught as a second language, and learned voluntarily, then one could view it similar to the Latin language for scientists. They all learn Latin as a foreign language, and the Latin language remains the same in all countries, uniting scientists around the world with one commonality, Latin. However, their identity with their national language and their ability to speak their mother tongue remains intact, though Latin is utilized in their daily life, it does not create confusion or disrespect their culture presently. It merely links every nation together for scientific research, opens communication, and allows growth. The same could be said for a universal sign language, it could provide growth and an increase for communication among a culture with a shared commonality. Having a universal sign language is a realistic solution to barriers in communication as long as it respects all cultures and encourages the individuality of their unique national origin…

This is where the various conflicts start taking place: This having diversity within the same language within a country creates a big gap between people from different regions. How can the residents of a country stand united in better or worse if within the same country the residents cannot even agree upon speaking one language in one particular dialect? Having one official language is like a bridge way between people from different nations, colors, ethnicities, and it tells that in spite of all the difference that there is among these people one thing is really common among them: The way they speak. It creates an invisible bond between these people and binds them in the tie of brotherhood. This is exactly what Kawame Appiah talks about in his essay “The Primacy of Practice”, when he mentions “cosmopolitanism.” Accepting different nations from around the world and within one’s own country with their variations and differences is what true cosmopolitanism is all about. English is a very diverse and lucid language which has derived numerous words from Sanskrit, Arabic, Spanish, French, German and many others. Leslie Savan in her essay “What’s Black, Then White and Said All Over” points out how “Black English” plays a major role in forming English. But even though Black English is…
