Open the Border for Hard Working Immigrants “Out of three hundred seven million people residing here in the United States, 11.1 million of them are immigrants” (Tabarrok). Immigrants migrate at different times, for plenty of different reasons, and from various foreign countries. Immigrants come to the U.S in hope for a more prominent and better life that entails freedom from the bad stuff happening in their countries and also opportunity for themselves and their children to live a better life. The request for opening the border to immigrants would highly benefit the U.S. Most illegal immigrants are hard-working and take care of their job. The economy would improve greatly with the number of jobs increasing; the U.S would be able to spend the money they use to secure the borders on more essential matters. Immigrants are considered valuable for Americans. Also, if the people in the country are pleased, the government is satisfied with its citizens. The mixing of cultures is highly beneficial for the country’s growth literally and figuratively. About sixty million dollars have been spent over the last three fiscal years to secure the border. “Last year alone, ICE spent more than ten times that annual cost which was about two-hundred million dollars to remove thirty-four thousand immigrants under the fugitive operations program. The Arizona Department of Public Safety saved an estimate of three million dollars for incarceration costs in just the first year” (Vaughan). Instead of spending so much money on trying to secure the border, government should spend it on essential matters. They should pay off their multi-million dollar debt. Taxes would also diminish which keeps consumers, both Americans and immigrants, pleased. If immigrants help the economy, then they should have the right to be secured and help with health problems then maybe the health care problem may be fixed so that everyone can be able to be cared for when they are sick.
