Mary Rowlandsons Captivity Narrative contradicts William Bradford’s in his Of Plymouth Plantation. This is shown by Bradford only thinks they are barbarians and Rowlandson has grey area in her time spend with the Indians.…

As much as humans like to control their own lives, there are many aspects that are outside of our control. For example, we do not choose the families into which we are born or the places where we grow up. The same is sometimes true of friendships. Some friends we choose because we identify them as people who are similar to us and because they offer us something we want. Occasionally, however, we make unexpected friends. For example, a young person bumps into someone at the library who is crying because she has lost an important paper she was writing for school. As a result, the two become friends and learn that helping people through tough times is at the core of strong relationships.…

All relationships have ups and downs, but in order for them to work it is substantial to have a few important qualities. Both partners must possess the qualities for a relationship to be long lasting. Liam from the short story “Bluffing” by Gail Helgason, and Ann from the short story “The Painted Door” by Ross Sinclair lack being trustworthy, selfless, and caring, while their partners, Gabriella and John carry these traits, making it difficult for both relationships to be successful.…

----- The dream act was passed during 2010 but a few days later the Dream Act came crashing down when the senate filibuster the act. A lot of senators were against the reform. They needed five more votes for the act to be passed, they had 55 votes overall, you need 60 votes to overcome a republican led filibuster. The bill had already passed the House and was approved by president Obama. The five democrats who voted no were Max Baucus and John Tester of Montana, Kay Hagan of North Carolina, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, and Mark Pryor of Arkansas. A lot of people are against the dream act because they feel that if the government lets immigrants get citizenship they would be letting them get away with them breaking the law in the first place by coming in to the united states without permission, even though most of the people benefiting from the dream act were very little to have a choice to decide whether or not they wanted to come to the united states or not. Then in that case the parents or older family member who brought the kids here in the first place should get punished? Another thing is immigrants get the same benefits a American citizen gets, like go to the hospital, women give birth without having to pay the amount of money a native born would have to pay. Immigrants also don’t pay taxes but Mrs. Elvia Hernandez during my interview said that she gets more tax taken away from her check then people who have social security numbers and when its time for tax season she barely gets any money back. Other people who think if the government lets the dream act be passed they’re basically telling immigrants that if you obey the law and keep your head down you may get a chance to citizenship. If the dream act is passed are people really going to obey the rules and laws they would be giving or are they going to try to rebel against the government.…

Both Lord of the flies and I’m the King of the Castle were an unforgettable experience as both novels lend themselves to violence and evil which when read and analysed leave an after taste which is hard to ignore. There is an underlying feeling of aggression and hostility almost from the beginning of both novels which as the books progress builds up in to a crescendo of physical and psychological viciousness. Both of the authors William Golding and Susan Hill have managed to create worlds in which only one conclusion can be reached from their message.…

If this typical day of my mom was made into novel, the novel would be very thick andthe story would be very long. So here, I’m going to tell a little story about my mom’s daily activities. First, her name is Trimuljati Salim and she was born in Jakarta. Every morning, my mom gets up at 5.30, when the alarm is ringing. Then she washes her face and drinks two glasses of water. After that, she goes to the kitchen to arrange a menu for a day such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For breakfast, she usually makes hamburgers, and fried rice. Sometimes she cooks chicken and mushrooms noodles. At about 6 o’clock she finishes cooking. She does it by herself. Then she wakes me up if i’m still sleeping in my bed. Half an hour later, she drives me to school and then she comes back home. Arriving at home, she eats breakfast together with my father. She has some breads, a glass of chocolate milk and a glass of carrot juice for her daily breakfast. Then, she turns on her laptop and also her blackberry to check if there are emails. If she has some work to do, she usually does it before she goes to work. It takes about an hour. After that, she gets ready to go to work. She takes a bath, and puts on her shirts and black trousers. Then, she puts on her flat shoes and gets her bag and her laptop bag to the car. Around 8 o’clock she goes to work. Our driver drives for her. She doesn’t want to drive for herself because she’s lazy of the traffic jam in this city, Jakarta. With a driver, she can relax in a car. The other reason is because she’s not too good at driving a car. It takes about half an hour to get to her office that located in Daan Mogot road.…
