I was raised in a Catholic household, however I did not have a connection with my faith until I reached the age of fourteen. My religious community at St. Ann’s Catholic Parish has had a powerful impact on my character ever since I began to participate in religious activities.During my eight grade year, I joined a youth program that was offered to middle school students, during that time, I attended a retreat which completely altered my personality. At the retreat, young adults discussed how God helped them through harsh times and how they found their path towards God. One story that stood out was about a young girl who was on the verge of committing suicide due to unhappiness and stress. She arrived to the United States in hopes of being able to complete her high school career, but when she attempted to enroll in her nearest high school she was rejected for being over age, so she was never able to gain a high school diploma.
