Over the years, environmental pollution has become more of a problem for a number of reasons. "Due to the great increase in the world's population, which is at 6.1 billion, energy use, and the number of vehicles on roads make air pollution a greater threat than ever (Pollution, Environmental). Because of this, "air pollution kills eight thousand people a year due to respiratory related problems (Air Pollution Kills). "Also, 40% of the world's deaths are being attributed to environmental factors (Segelken). With such a number of people dying a year due to air pollution one can see how much the environmental pollution is affecting us. This dilemma is only made worse due to the current means of disposing nuclear waste. "Until 1993, Russia would resort to the dumping of its high and low level radioactive waste by dumping it into the Arctic seas and any other low-level waste into the Seas of Japan (Nitze). "Radiation from nuclear waste is known to cause a series of reactions in body tissue that results in damage to the bodies cells (Daley). This can cause disease, such as cancer, injury, or death. The effects on the human body make the situation even worse for the people of the world. But, an even more common threat is the use of incinerators and landfills, for the reducing and disposal of waste. Using incinerators to reduce the volume of trash not only causes air pollution but also produces toxic ash that must be disposed of in specially made landfills. Landfills themselves can pollute groundwater after heavy rain, which would then be drunk by the surrounding population.

Air pollution in Egypt is a real, harmful and serious problem. It is caused by a wide variety of things. From these causes is the great amount of smoke that come from chimneys of factories that were built near the cities as it release great amount of harmful, poisonous, black smoke which is quickly spread in the air and change its color into black. Also the black color of car exhaust has a serious, bad effect on human's respiration and which unfortunately we breeze it daily as we walk on the streets. This car exhaust causes many horrible diseases in the human lungs and many other organs in the human body. Aside from all of the usual and attempted supposed solutions, some real solutions, if implemented, would actually help reduce the air pollution problem. These solutions fall under the following title: Pollution Reduction Strategies.…

Although their pollutants are emitted in completely different ways, they both harm living organisms. Air pollution is predominately emitted though the exhaust of motor vehicles and the combustion of fossil fuels, whereas water pollution is the result of industrial waste and environmental accidents. Our society knows that pollution is harmful and a serious problem for Earth but generally people dont care. Nevertheless everybody needs to contribute to prevention and pay attention to government control in the amount of material large industries can emit into the air and/or water. Industry gives off a good share of the waste that is polluting our planet, but its every person is contributes as well. Environmental degradation is one of the ‘10 Threats’ identified by the High Level Threat Panel1 of the United Nations. Degradation of the environment refers to deterioration of the environmental condition by the depletion of natural resources such as water, air and soil, as well as the destruction of habitats and loss of biodiversity. Such degradation, such as pollution, leads to global warming – the increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s surface. According to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and NASA data, ‘the Earth's average surface temperature has increased by about 1.2 to 1.4ºF in the last 100 years.’2 The earth is experiencing rapid and severe climate change and environmental problems that people of the world can no longer overlook the crisis and not do anything. This research papers aim at first giving an overview of the problems the world is facing now, then explore solutions attempted by international efforts, or are possible in effect, that are targeted at environmental issues. Pollution designates the ‘undesirable state of the natural environment being contaminated with harmful substances as a consequence of human activities.’3 There are numerous kinds of pollution taking place everywhere in the world as of today. For example, exhaust gases of vehicles, combustion of coal and acid rain, which make up the term ‘air pollution’, are very much detrimental to the natural environment. They are also the main contributors to global warming.…
