Equality Rhetorical Analysis
Equality is motivated by change and if everyone else was as motivated as Equality their world would be changed forever.
Motivation, hoe is Equality so motivated for this change? He thinks he'll get anything he could want all for this invention. Equality says "It can be made to grant us anything if we but chose to ask." (pg 60). He's motivated by the hopes of an exchange. Equality thinks that "They will see, understand and forgive.". But will they ever?

    Equality’s independence has troubled him since he was a child. He was often punished for fighting with his brothers the other children his age. Things did not get easier when he was in school his intelligence also made him stand out. Equality is very smart and good at science. Through his childhood he committed many transgressions .In Anthem youths are not permitted to desire a profession of their own choosing, one of Equality’s many transgressions is that he yearns to be sent to the Home of the Scholars where he can pursue the science research he loves.     Another type of sacrifice Equality displays is physical abuse. Equality refuses to give the whereabouts of his laboratory even though he gets thrashed with whips and beaten senseless, saying “The lash whistled like a singing wind.     Equality discovers an underground tunnel and “Now [he sits] in the tunnel for three hours each night” (Pg 35). He conducts experiments to study in order to get a better understanding of the world, and how things work, as well as trying to discover new things. Equality continues to study and learn, even though he could get severely punished, unlike the others in his society, he wants to learn more than the information that is just given to him. He says that “in these two years [he has] learned more than [he] had learned in the ten years of the Home of the Students” (Pg 36). Equality was only able to make progress when he secluded himself from the rest of the community and discarded the rules that had held him back. Equality’s views in the middle of the book are changing from his views that he had in the beginning of the book. In the opening of the book he wrote that “It is a sin to think words no other think” (Pg 17), yet a few chapters in when he is studying and disobeying the rules of his society he says that “there is no shame in [him] and no regret. [He says] to [himself] that [he is] a wretch and a traitor. But [he feels] no burden upon [his] spirit and no fear” (Pg 37).     Music is a medium in which people can express their feelings, as well as get many strong messages across efficiently. This is seen frequently in the music industry along with many bands. take this as an initiative to spread a message they find important. The Black Eyed Peas are a band notorious for this type of social communication. This is a band that believes in social change as well as equality in the world. Many of their songs portray similar core values and express many reoccurring themes. The targeted audience of their songs is the youth. Their music promotes action for change. The Black Eyed Peas specifically call to action on certain issues such as believe the young being corrupt by society and we all must start the movement. One specific song, paired with its music video inspires many of these common threads. The song, “Where is the Love?” does an excellent job tying together many serious issues into a fluid musical piece paired with symbolic images. This music video is getting the message out that change in the world starts with the individual. With these images and sounds, The Black Eyed Peas are able to tackle and reflect on large social conflicts in a relaxing and inspiring way. “Where is the Love?” effectively touches upon may themes including, faith and hopelessness, hypocrisy and corrupted youth through images, poetic words, as well as the rhythm mood and tempo they play the music and these can be interpreted through ethos, logos and pathos. Through the Rhetorical Triangle analysis style, I will investigate what has been mentioned and how the combination of images and sounds effectively communicate many powerful messages, especially for the short amount of time.
