The purpose of education is to create a healthy and well developed society, where the center is the educated and resourceful individual. It is to teach us how to think and analyze the world around but not to tell us what to think and what to do. It aims at creating the necessary understanding for what is good and bad individually, To develop creative thinking and imagination. Eric Hofer, a well known American writer, supposes that the purpose of education is to cultivate the will and offer the tool to learn. In his opinion the purpose of education is to create individuals that are able to learn by themselves. As someone rightly said, a good teacher teaches from the heart and not from the book. So, to take up a job as a teacher one must have passion for the subject he is teaching so that he can pass the same passion to his students. One of the important roles of a teacher is also that of respecting a student's opinion. A teacher must always be open to learn new things and he must keep himself updated with the latest developments in his subject.
Education is the basis for society, whether it be basic a high school diploma or a specialized PhD. Without education we would still be at the same level as the Neanderthals before us.
