Noise Reflection Paper
Broken Marianist Values When I was written for a noise complaint, I had broken some of the Marianist Values that are part of a Catholic society at the University of Dayton. There were six people in my room late at night on a school night while it was past quiet hours. The values that I disrupted were being respectful to others, leadership, and responsibility for self and community. While people were in my room we were all taking and listening to music. I was not respecting my neighbors due to the fact that it was past quiet hours and they were either sleeping or studying. I was being a disruption to others. If I were the one next door I would have been annoyed with us as well because I do not like excessive noise when I am trying to study or sleep. I also violated the Marianist value of being a leader to others. My part in being a leader was very poor during this situation. I should have thought about the music being too loud in the first place when we had the first warning. Another I should have done to be a better leader would have been to constantly quiet my friends down and tell them that we were not being polite or respectful. I also could have taken leadership by telling all of my friends to leave after we got the first warning. While I was not being a leader in the situation I was also not respecting myself or my community. The disrespect that I had for myself and my community are another Marianist Value that I did not follow. While there were people in my room I was not respecting myself because I was doing homework when they showed up. Therefore, I did not give my homework the proper focus and attention that I should have put into it. Another thing that I did not take into consideration was the fact that it was late at night and I needed to get a good sleep for my classes the next morning. When I had people came over it took off about two hours of sleep that I could have gotten that night which would

After watching a few commercials from this year’s Super Bowl Football game, the one that caught my eye the most was the 2012 Chevy Silverado Apocalypse. It was humorous, creative, and got the point across to the audience. Compared to the other commercials of this year’s Super Bowl those were the qualities that stuck out more so. The commercial effective with the way it played out and was well set up.…

To understand the universality of human nature we can explore common traits and characteristics, many of which are prevalent in Jane Yolen's novel, Briar Rose. Yolen produces a very powerful and complex novel exploring the emotional aftermath of the Holocaust. Yolen has intertwined the facts of the Holocaust with the story of Briar Rose, a traditional fairy tale, in order to speak about the Holocaust without having to go into the historical detail of the experience. Yolen whose background is Jewish has previously written a novel detailing the Holocaust, uses Briar Rose as an extension of her work. Significant aspects of human nature that Yolen focuses on include the courage and heroism of the character Josef as he expresses the power of survival, the ability of Gemma to cope with her history and memories from the Holocaust and the journey of Becca to unravel the truth of her grandmothers past and therefore her identity.…

I grew up in a very conservative, restricted family household. I still remember the many times I thought to myself why my siblings and I couldn’t go to another place other than church. Or why the many kids in my neighborhood where allowed, of what it seemed at that time, the million opportunities to enjoy their childhood. From a young age I was to obey and do what I was told. To not deviate from my parents’ wishes, which were for me to be good Christian and someone who always did well by school and society. As a got older I realized that our…

The Golden Rule can be complicated if I have not learned how to let others have their rights. When I decide to be rude to my teachers and classmates, then I make it hard for me.
