Essay About Field Experience
I cannot believe how quickly October has come and that I am in the middle of my internship. My internship with Morgan State University’s Athletic Marketing Department has been a wonderful experience and I would recommend doing an internship with the department to any interested MSU student, looking to get some real field experience. I was able to implement what I have learned in the classroom to my internship, as well as mentor with, and assist the director, Mr. Robert Anderson, directly. This has truly been an awesome and rewarding experience. In addition to my office and game day assignments, I have the opportunity to meet with different company representatives who exclusively speak and seek student athletes.

Collaboration to develop a brand that signifies academics and athletics can be accomplished if stakeholders are willing to come together with an open mind. For many students, the college experience is measured by the success of their NCAA-sanctioned athletic programs. Without the experience and athletic performance the student athlete brings, most colleges would not reap the benefit of these significant revenue-generating activities. At best, current NCAA regulations need to be revisited to ensure all avenues are addressed to enable the success of athletic students both in the classroom and on the field or court of play. As stated previously, even though students receive full and partial scholarships determined by their athletic performance, in both instances financial hardship is still experienced by many. Since the various professional sports’ programs reap the conditioning and experience of college student athletes, sponsorship initiatives should be pursued to allow student athletes some form of payment without creating additional outlays for colleges and universities.…

I have never been astounded by such marvelous architecture until I laid my eyes on Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois. Soldier Field seemed like a dragon, just engulfing everyone who was spectating the Mexico vs Bosnia game on May 2011. When I first laid eyes on the monstrosity, I was very intimidated. The thought of entering this behemoth marveled me and made me even more excited to enter and watch the Mexico soccer game that I was anxiously waiting for! Chicago itself is a marvelous city with hidden gems scattered throughout, like Soldier Field. The cold air of Lake Michigan stung my skin and felt like shards of ice piercing my body. Soldier Field, in Chicago, is a monstrosity of a place. Going there to watch a Mexico soccer game was like going into the eye of a storm.…

Joining the future business leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, becoming a youth leader at Christ Church, as well as many other volunteering activities helped me enrich my community, and make an impact in the world around me. Along with these organizations, I have played several sports in high school, in my junior and senior years I settled on my two favorite sports, track and field, and volleyball. Within these sports I have made friendships with my teammates I will never forget, and learned important lessons in humbleness when winning, and cohere with my friends when losing. By being a member of any sports teams at my high school, I regularly attended many of my school’s events, giving me the opportunity to develop relationships, and gain a tremendous sense of pride in my school. I am looking forward to bringing this same sense of pride to my college, and making many new friendships along the way. I learned over the course of my education to this point, that when I became more involved with these activities, my performance in the classroom increased alongside my…

As an Accounting major, I am very interested and have become fond of learning about the varying business aspects within the sports industry. As a result, I decided to conduct my interview with a professional that is associated with the business operations of athletics. The person that I interviewed was Dawn Reynolds, the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Business and Finance here at the University of Miami. After initially getting in contact with Ms. Reynolds a few weeks ago, I was finally able to meet with her briefly and conduct my interview on November 30, 2010, in room 261 in the Hecht Athletics Center. Just to give a bit of background information about Ms. Reynolds, she is from Elmira, New York and now currently resides in Coral Gables, Florida. This experience taught me numerous new things that shaped who I was and altered the way I returned to my community, Los Angeles. The most important thing I learned at this internship was the ability to “fit into” this new way of life. While studying abroad, I believe that this skill I gained from my internship will allow me accommodate and adapt easily to the new culture. I also learned from this internship how to properly communicate with new people in general, but also with people who may not be familiar with my own culture and lifestyle. This new skill will also allow me to communicate and connect with other students while abroad by expressing an interest in who they are. I will also be able to grow a connection with my peers by showing them a bit of my culture and help them learn a new way of life.…

I, on the other hand, can see abusive relationships almost everywhere and almost everyday. I never noticed them until I was part of one. When I started my internship at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center (KCMC), which lies in the foothills of snow capped Mount Kilimanjaro in Moshi, Tanzania, I developed my clinical hands-on experience. I helped diagnose and manage a wide variety of acute and chronic medical conditions, from the very common to unusual and complicated cases. I embraced every opportunity not only for patient care, but also the development of my clinical problem solving skills as well as presentation. As days went by, learning became easier. while discussing cases with my colleagues, residents and attending, I came to understand that it is impractical to know everything in medicine, but that built my confidence to improve my basic steps in the management of…
